I have an unmodified, unrooted Bionic which I got when they came out in September. I just installed a new extended battery, and I read somewhere that in order to get the best performance, you should "recalibrate" your battery with a battery calibration app. I downloaded one, but didn't realize that you had to root before you could use it. My question is, is not "recalibrating" going to make a huge difference in the performance of my new extended battery? I would rather not root at this time.

You don't need to be rooted, just let battery drain all the way to 0 (dead) and charge to 100 a couple of times and all will be fine.

Exactly right. This is calibrating your battery.
