Hello forum members!
New to this site and got into modding my phone. Have Samsung-SGH-I727 and loved it when my friend rooted it with ODIN if i remember correctly. Have since gotten a replacement and seriously tired of the OS. Looking forward to having fun with my phone again.

Welcome to AC.

Your correct Odin is used to root the device. Not exactly positive on the technique used on that particular model but on most other Samsung's you flash a custom recovery with Odin which then allows you to flash Superuser access to root the device. Sometimes this also involves flashing a custom kernel to help root the device.
