Will this be only for those who buy through lg or will people be able to buy from let's say verizon or at&t and then submit a receipt and get a free phone?

Not sure. There's no details on it that I can find so I'm guessing we have to wait until May 5th.
I just noticed LG has pulled the promo picture from the smart world app.

I wasn't planning on buying a new phone. My note 4 is still working fine for me and was going to wait and see what the note 8 was going to be like or wait for a good deal on the s8+ but this is a good deal. I could buy a g6 and then get a second g6 to sell to offset the cost or get a v20 to go along with the g6. Only problem is I really do not like how lg took away the notification light. I do not like always on display screens for notifications.
What would be nice is if you could buy a carrier variant and then get a free unlocked version of that phone from lg.

I felt the same about the led and aod until I got the G6. There's nothing special about the G6 version but for some reason I like it. Maybe because I didn't get a choice to use one or the other. When I had the S8+ I actually turned off the led notification and stuck with the aod.
After using the S8+ I'm not as eager for the Note 8 as I was. I love the note series but I'm hoping they make some changes to the design and feel compared to the S8 and S8+. They also need to do something about the lag that starts to develop on Samsung's.

Thanks for posting this deal. I was thinking of pulling the trigger to get the new LG G6 but will now wait to see if this deal is offered as I would also prefer a second phone, minibeam and way better earphones than what Samsung offered with their S8 preorders. I have no interest in Google Home.
There is no LG Smart World app on my phone or in the Play Store and when I visit the Smart World website I dont see this offer anywhere......
Go to settings>about phone>update center>app update. That's where you can install it. If you don't have that section your carrier removed it.
LG removed the ad the day after I posted it so I'm not sure if it was a mistake or what the deal is.

If it happens I may be buying a platinum version to go with my black one lol. I'll happily take a free v20 and some nice headphones. The projector would be fun once or twice I guess.

Only a couple more days to see if this actually happens. At&T and T-Mobile are already lowering the price, hard to believe this will happen along with the lower price but who knows.

Im in the same boat as you, at my Local Carphone Warehouse (UK).. Im sure I saw the manager burst into tears when I come in .. lol. Also, you get 14 days "cooldown" to change your mind on a contract here, but you can only change the contract once per store.... shame ..lol
But I always say to them.... when your throwing down £600 + its gotta be right?
