New Gingerbread OTA leak

I wish I hadn't installed GB unrooted last time. A rooted version was released within 24 hours last leak making me figure out how to sbf which was pretty easy.

Actually, you should be glad you did that because it forced you to learn how to use the SBF to get back to stock. People who do not learn how to do that should not be rooting their phones. Many of those people end up lying about what they did and taking their phone back to Verizon to get a new one, which does nothing but piss off the carriers and make them want to lock down the devices even more.

Agreed, anyone have any idea on root instructions

HOORAY! I'm rockin' the 'bread! The battery meter is still sideways - weird - but other than that all is well. Now I just need root!

Are they talking about holding the rooted release again and only load it to TBH app like last time? Until it was leaked...

Ok so I blame peer pressure, lol. I went ahead and did it. Bye Liberty(although the wallpaper I had is still my wallpaper, lol). As for rooting, I went the z4 method and when it tries, the app crashes back to the desktop. Tap it again and it FCs and then it wont even tap, only highlights. I get as far as "Aquiring root shell". Interesting.

Does this mean I have to sbf again, then root then install this? lol i have to go to bed soon

My hypotheses is that VZW is not pushing it yet, but this is a version push-worthy.

Its already been rooted. We are just waiting on root instructions. And if it isn't it will be.

Technically, since we can sbf back to froyo, and root, the new boot-loader already lets us root. Being that a rooted GB exists, it will happen is my guess.

upstreammiami was right. Android is a drug. Ill quote Trent Reznor and say
"you are the perfect drug, the perfect drug" lol time to get some coffee its gona be a long night

Can I ask a really n00bish question? What is the advantage to having this official gingerbread version (with possible root coming soon) in contrast to the one that was leaked and rooted and deodexed? I see everyone excited about getting this, but I have no idea what would be offered to us from this version rather than the one I have now. I got the GB leak a while ago, rooted it with deodexed and now I am wondering if I need to start all over...

If there is an advantage and I'm on the GB leak (rooted), do I need to SBF back to Froyo and then install this?

I know I am n00bing you to death, but this forum has been helpful to me, and I'm seeking council. Thanks to anyone who will assist me.

It's a newer build so it has less bugs, less bugs means a better overall experience and less reboots/freeze ups.
The only benefit to running the older leak right now is its rooted but a method to root the new build has been found, so now we're just waiting on the how to.

If you're running the older build then. I'd suggest an SBF before manually applying the new build if you don't want to deal with bootloops, infinity syncs and other screwy issues.

So before we can install this update we need to sbf back correct? In order to do that we need to use RSD lite?
