NEW Google Keyboard

Something wrong with using free apps? Other than tapatalk I haven't found a paid app I needed.

Nope, it's just amazing because it's so different than what I do. I buy some apps that I try for a few minutes then uninstall. Just because I think they appreciate $.99 more than 4 stars, etc. I don't do it with random apps, but with ones that I appreciate what they're doing and want to see them continue...

Nothing wrong with what you're doing at all, that's why there is a free app section and my wife hardly buys any apps either.

The trace like on this keyboard is way to thick. But I like the use of holding shift with left hand and secondary character with other hand

Long press does same thing

Right, long press does do same thing. But if your typing over 50 words per minute than its faster to use two thumbs. The long press even if reduced slows you down.

This keyboard is good but I don't find the auto correct as good as Swiftkey. I'm going to keep trying to use it but people are literally telling me to switch back to my old keyboard.

SwiftKey is the best. It is faster than any other keyboard. And with the speed I type I don't think there can be any other keyboard better than SwiftKey.

Works great on my HTC One. Glad I can get the Nexus 4 keyboard on this phone. The HTC one keyboard isn't bad but I got use to this keyboard and really enjoy it.

I tried it and still prefer the stock keyboard on my Note II because of the number keys at the top.

Same here. Having the numbers on the top row is great. I hate having to shift to get to them. I wish this was an option on other keyboards.

I must eat my words. As others have noted, the key is the numbers on top....Reverted to Samsung stock.

Very insightful thread. I actually do like the Google Keyboard because the predictions are so much more accurate and practical than the stock Samsung one. However everyone's comments have convinced me to try Kii and Swiftkey. I don't really care for the gesture typing much; I have small hands so using one hand to swipe across the screen of my S4 is pretty difficult. UI is nice enough for me but I agree it should be more customizable!

Also, I wish for emojis... Sigh... I downloaded the "emoji for English words" add-on dictionary but they don't show up :-( the comments say that you need to type the whole word, but seriously that defeats the entire purpose of emojis. They're meant to shorten words into one cute little icon, not make life more difficult for the rest of us by making us type the whole word :-( sigh...

But still in my case, I can't seem to select it as an input language although it says it's downloaded already. I don't understand why most Android phones don't come with emojis like the Nexus, or even the iPhone which has had them way back when. I know it's a shallow request but it's got a demand! Sigh, I shall wait for the day all phones will be equal with emojis. (First world problem much...)

I was mad i couldnt find the emojis on google keyboard too but they are actually there...just long press the enter button and you can access all the google keyboard emojis :)
