New Google Wallet app

When you go to your play store, go to your apps and then swipe to the side to see "all apps" and search for wallet app. Its not alphabetical so scroll slowly!

Google just released update to Wallet to be able to use ANY CC you wish.
But I don't see an option to update it on my Nexus 7. Is it because I'm rooted (when I launch it it says Unsupported device, because it's unlocked).

Can I just use this one instead?

Thanks

No, Wallet works fine on a rooted device. You get the Unsupported device banner as a disclaimer if you are rooted. It works just fine though.

Get it straight from the Play Store here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ogle.android.apps.walletnfcrel&token=1MO-Tqsr

I just used the browser on my devices and was able to find it and install.

In my case, even though the app was set to update automatically, I had to go into the download section of the Google Play store and update it manually. Once the update was completed it already had the account info for the Amex card used by my Google Play account added to my wallet.

I actually have a question about google wallet. So Google gives u 10 dollars for setting it up so u can use it. I just set it up on my nexus 7. How do i see the 10 bucks? How do i know i received it?

Once you set it up, click the Google prepaid card. Might take a minute or a few to activate, once it does you will see it has a $10 balance ready to go.

OK I see the ten dollars on my wallet, but what exactly do I do once I walk into a McDonalds or BP that accepts paypass?

The easiest thing to do is when you go in. Open wallet, put in your pin, when you are ready to pay, tap your Nexus against the paypass and you should feel and vibration and hear a beep, then you will see your receipt.

I clicked on the link of the article I was reading about the update. It was either on Android central or Android police.

Tap the glass side or the back side?

You use the back side.

I've used my Nexus 7 for NFC payments twice and it seemed to work best for me when I already had Google Wallet open and had already input my pin number. After the cashier has completed the order just place the back side of your Nexus 7 against the NFC reader and wait for about five to ten seconds.

While it seems like nothing is happening (and you must be doing something wrong) all of a sudden you get the Google Wallet tone and the Google Wallet logo pops up on your screen and then you get an electronic receipt on your screen.

If you still have NFC anxiety there are a few videos on YouTube that show the process - just search for "McDonald's Google Wallet." :)

I couldn't find Google Wallet either in the installed or all apps section of Google Play... Searching for it didn't find it either.

So what I did was email myself the direct link and that opened up the play app which allowed me to update it:

I had to do the same. No matter how many times I attempted to update from within the Google Wallet app or the Play Store, it would always tell me I was up to date.

You can easily tell if you have the latest, besides the obvious that your cards aren't showing up. In stock app, the unlock/PIN screen was blue. In the new version the unlock/PIN screen is gray.

Three tips....

1. You have to run it as a credit card, not debit
2. You don't need Wi-Fi.... you won't get the receipt if not connected but it will work fine
3. You can ignore the unsupported banner
