New HTC One (M8) or Galaxy S5 ?

I would love to see some equal comparisons that show no bias towards either device. It would be nice if someone could go though different modes in each phone and take equivalent pictures, WITHOUT BIAS. Truly test the strengths and weaknesses of the cameras

I'm working on a Nexus 5 vs Xperia Z2 vs iPhone 5S vs HTC One camera comparison and I'll post photo samples up by this weekend. I'm looking for someone I know who has the Galaxy S5 so I can add that too. The few people who I know that bought it returned it because they hated it, lol.

Both phones are top tier. I went with the s5 but wouldn't be upset with the m8. They both got a lot of flack, and both ending up pleasing customers. I love mobile tech. It's silly to flame over these devices. Enjoy.

I bought it over the M8. :(

Not a keeper, just hate this build quality issues. I opened the box tested the volume and it was so loose but just pretended I changed my mind and went for the S5.

It's alright, I don't see what the fuss is all about. Their finger print scanner is a PITA especially if you want to use one hand/thumb.

I will buy the M8 later this year when I sell the S5. :)

I came away from Samsung Mobile feeling like build quality wasn't as important to them as with other OEMs. Like they were just trying to do enough to get by. The crooked/sliding home buttons on two Note 3's was the last straw for me.

I am not really an HTC fan. That being said, I am changing carriers and with it, the possibility of getting a new device. And right now the leading contender is by far the M8.

Golf, your jumping from Sprint? Who you thinking about going with. Sprint is so improved in my area I think I'm gonna stay with em for now

I'm really looking hard at the M8 too though

AT&T right now. Sprint has declined so much, that I can't stay connected to Google services (can tell in Hangouts) and trying to look up anything on the forum is painfully slow.

Don't get me wrong, Sprint may be an option again in the future, but for right now, it isn't.

Anywhoo...back to the topic...lol

If someone is legitimately a "serious photographer" they aren't using a phone camera at all.

That's what kills me about camera wars...almost as much as how threatened the Samsung fanboys are by the M8 that they spend all their time trolling the M8 board instead of the S5 board for the phone they use and are soooooooo happy with.

Just saying.

Precisely. If this phone wasn't worth their time, they wouldn't be here. But the fact is, the m8 is an amazingly powerful device. It's a testament to how good this phone is, that all the haters can do is hang on to the camera. Meanwhile, I was out last night and was seriously impressed with what this camera can do at night.

All phone cameras are way better than they should be. Nobody prints pictures you only view them on your device or post them on twitter or Facebook which downgrade the quality anyway. Anyone who holds picture quality in such high regard should own a camera. Such a non issue that its actually funny to hear people bring it up.

Who are you to decide what people should and shouldn't do?

Do you carry a point and shoot or DSLR at all times? No because its simply not practical.

Therefore it is reasonable for people to expect good picture quality out of a smartphone camera. Is it going to be DSLR quality? No, But they can expect to have the best possible quality since they are going to carry their smartphone every day.

The best camera is the one you have with you so why shouldn't you be worried about the quality of pictures a smartphone produces given its always going to be with you...

And once again there is nothing wrong with the m8 camera. Just because it's not as sharp as the s5 doesn't mean it's not a good camera.

So what else is there?

You people complaining about the camera on this phone are crazy. i have taken about ten random pictures with this thing both indoors and out, and every one looks great to me. No adjusments made, just aimed and snapped. Crazy....

Haters gonna hate, that's all. ;-)

I'm not worried about quality. That's because the camera does what I want without effort.

Tell me this is not quality...
