New iPhone 6 Features

I think most Apple enthusiasts would tell you that its the overall 'experience' and 'cohesiveness' of hardware and software that you'd be missing out on. That doesn't matter to me if I can't do the things that I like and want to do on my own device. Give me freedom of flexibility to do whatever I want on my device over a 'cohesive' and 'restrictive' experience any day! Just my humble opinion.

Completely agree and I'd add that, to me, they'd just be confirming their ignorance. I've had A LOT of iphones and, now that I think about it, now that Android app-quality at least meets their Apple counterparts the experience on an iPhone could never be more "cohesive" than a well-configured android phone. I keep an iPhone 4S around just so I won't be totally ignorant of what's going on with iOS. Yuck. My wife loves her iPhone and is intimidated by what she sees on my S5 and Note 3. I have a feeling that's the real underlying issue. Intimidation by Android (completely unfounded intimidation)...not cohesive-simple experience from the iPhone. Many iOS uses may not grasp that by and large you can make your android phone as dumbed-down simple as their iPhone. The question is, why would you want to?

So what we are missing out on is being led around by the nose by Apple. Which pretty much exactly fits the Apple user stereotype.

Android could be every bit as simple if all you used were the basic functions.

Android apps aren't even close to ios. Look at the Android Chase app and then use ios Chase app. This is a major bank. Not even in the same league.

Why can't we talk about them?

You have every right to talk about them. :-* The forum master is only complaining that the buzz is largely based on the assumption that iPhone 6 and 6+ have innovative features, which is largely incorrect.

^^THIS^^

It's the app functionality and support that is still superb on IOS that made me return to it. In the end its a matter of what each individual needs and wants. Most smart phones do exactly the same thing being ios , android or wp... it's now a matter of how you achieve things, how fast, how easy, what works best for each person.

I used andorid for the past 5-6 months as my daily driver (also a WP Lumia Icon ), found it an amazing device, and have a great respect for what android has done over the years. And while i planed to keep it for more than a year i just missed the simple things that apps on IOS offered to my user experience. For instance, twitter was/is on a par on android, that is until i found out that sometimes some tweets on my timeline where not showing, they appeared on my ipad but not on my android device, had to uninstall and install again to make it work properly, this i had to do once or twice a week. Skype... on IOS when you dial a contact and wait for them to answer you close the app and open another app, on android if i tried to multitask when the skype call was ringing it would just hang up, so i had to wait for the other person to answer before i could multitask. I know this are just ''minor'' things, but it's only an example on why i still think apps on IOS work a little better and give a better experience over all. Those were not deal breakers if you ask me, but combining that with the fact I use Facetime and imessage daily it was just a must to go back to an IOS phone... the only drawback i would see right now is battery life, i really hope the iphone 6 can finally be the phone that lasts a full day without having to charge it at 3pm.

Talking about ''educating ignorant apple users'' just proves to me how childish and arrogant some people are. After using android for the 5-6 months i'm happy i can make a proper decision on what phone i want right now, and I'm not even saying IOS is better, i actually believe and recommend android and WP to people, mostly depending on their needs, wants, preferences and budget. I can see how some features on Android are better and why people may choose them as factors when deciding what OS to get, but i also can see how someone might just be more productive with an IOS device.

Of course you two are correct. I think I was being wishful at best. I, for one, have never seen an app that is on borh iOS and Android where the android version is superior. Android apps have gotten significantly better but do indeed still lag behind their iOS counterparts in quality, IMHE. For me, however, the android apps I NEED/USE have gotten good enough that I'm not constantly missing iOS anymore for the app quality. I came out of of iOS in late May and have been quite content with my Samsung and LG devices. While the iPhone 6 doesn't pique my interest in the least the 6+ has my attention and I may add one to my arsenal, being able to enjoy both platforms seems like fun to me.

I second this. I constantly shake my head at the amazing ignorance of posters who take this line of attack. Themes like only the technically ignorant choose ios. Or that tens of millions of people choose the iphone because they can't see beyond slick marketing.

I contrast this with my observations of real world iphone users. My company is full of computer engineers and programmers. These people have created an iOS app that is as complex and rich as anything you will find on the App Store. These same people are doing the same thing on Android. Then we have others who are engineering an Android driven mobile device from the ground up. And all kinds of them are iPhone users. They are neither sheep or technically incompetent. I would willingly match their technical competence against any of the posters here who try to claim that they are somehow technically superior to iphone users.

I have also had the good fortune to meet all kinds of people who design, develop, and manufacture some of the world's most complex products including jet engines, jet aircraft, wind turbines, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, lasers and so on. All kinds of them are iphone users. Some use Android too, but they are in the clear minority.

I just have to laugh when I read the extremist points of view on this forum who think they are credible when they label people as mindless sheep just because of what phone they choose to buy.

Brilliant.

Can somebody explain to me where this mentality comes from that Apple provides a better quality experience than android phones? Because within days of the iPhone 6 release the phone bodies were warping and then they had to do a massive recall of iOS 8. Hardware and software both defective right out of the gate and this after taking years just to catch up on a few features android phones already had.. Reality distortion field indeed.

Apples strongest asset is not their hardware or software. Apple's strongest asset is their marketing.

Lol. Some are just loyal and will stick to what they know (in this case iOS) as opposed to changing to what may be a better experience to them at the expense of a learning curve. It's not that they're sheep, they just prefer to stick to what they know and minimize change. To them, its just a phone, they're not all enthusiasts. That's where a lot of the mentality arrives from. My beloved little wife is a perfect example of this. She refuses to even give android a chance because she doesn't want to have to learn how to use it. Some of us love change so discovering Android was a no-brainer.

A lot of these people are Apple freaks meaning if it is Apple they will buy no matter the cost or lack of features and the iPhone 6 is still lacking. To someone who doesn't realize what Android has had a new (to them) feature is something big to talk about..

<--- was a Serious Apple Freak for life,

Until I got to play on my brothers Galaxy s5 that is.....

I was one of those who bought into the whole "iPhone" name. Gosh I'm such a dummy sometimes.. =]
