New Market on the NC

Has anybody figured out how to get the new market to show up?

I have the new market. I assume you're rooted to ask this question. For me, I installed Dropbox on my phone and NC, then copied over the Vendor.apk from my phone to my Nook and installed. Wah lah!

Assuming you're talking about the stock ROM rooted and not nookie froyo, then yes - downloaded this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=467086&d=1292632642 and simply install it to replace the old one.

I've yet to find anyone who's gotten the new market on nookie froyo...

Yeah the new market is really hard to get on nookie froyo if at all I have tried several several things and just cant get it going. The stock ROM root its cake!

Do i have to install using adb? When i try to install the apk from xda im getting a failed install error.


Edit: even without "installing" i now have the updated market. Hmmm

Glad I found this thread. New market works great for me; I've also noticed I've got access to apps I didn't have before. ADW Launcher I could never get on the old market.

When I do a search for JunOs Pulse, and it doesn't find it. Things like that.

Yeah there is definitely a difference. If I search for Junos I get 8 results on the NC and 10 results on my Fascinate. Somethings amis...

Got the new market working in nookie froyo

* Download this file onto your nook.

* Using root explorer, copy it to system/app (you'll have to hit the button to set as r-w first).

* Long hold on any file in that folder, and check its permissions. Do the same for the file you just pasted, and, if it's different, change it to match.

* Reboot

* In Root Explorer, go back to system/app and now install the file. It should replace your old market.

Works like a charm for me. Enjoy!

Astro doesn't allow you to mount as r-w, so you'll need to use either Root Explorer or adb.

Adb is free...and a good one to be familiar with.

Ok... so i now have root explorer and the apk dowloaded. When i try to install, it says downloaded apks can't install.

You have to go into noook tools and enable non market installs.

Sometimes you have to reboot or check/unceck/check/reboot for it to kick in.
