Hi all, I'm new, so please go easy on me for the first two years.

I have this problem: My new nexus 4 has a phone number under; settings + about phone + status and where it says ''My phone number'' it has a number therin.
It's not my number and it's not a number I am aware of. In fact I have not got a clue where it came from.
My question is: Do all new Nexus 4s come with an unknown number listed on the status page under ''My phone number'' ?
Should I worry ?

If you guys, much more knowledgable than I, could answer this question I would be most greatful?

Welcome to the forum!

Mine shows the number that I was given when I activated the SIM card. What really matters is whenever you call or text someone, does it show the the phone number that you know to be yours, or does it show this mystery number?

Here is another similar thread you might want to look at: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/249603-nexus-4-my-phone-number.html

One last thing (for the future)...You would get more responses on an issue like this if you posted it in the main Nexus 4 section of the forum. You put this in the Accessories sections. Typically, this is for stuff like cases, charging pads, headphones, etc...

Dear Greydarrah,

Big thanks for your help and for pointing me in the right direction regarding Nexus 4. Will keep that helpful advice in mind.

Called the wife and my number showed up not the foreghen body number on her phone so all seems to be well.

However, I don't like having a number I'm not aware of it's destination. I did ring Google Play they said they are coming back in a couple of days.

Any ways, I can sleep easy tonight !! Thank you !!

Yours KitBenn

From reading that thread that I posted for you, it looks like the company that you need to call is whomever you got your SIM card through. I sounds like the SIM card has another number associated with it. They should be able to clear it for you. I doubt that Google can be of any help. However, it doesn't appear to be causing you any problems if you want to just leave it as is.
