Two days ago I purchased a new 16gb Nexus 7 from Walmart. Out of the box, the Nexus had about 50% battery, so I figured I would just use it. Tonight it's down around 10%, and I want to charge it. I unwrapped the new OEM charger that came with the Nexus, and plugged everything in to an outlet by itself. Nothing happened while the Nexus was powered off, so I turned it on. Still nothing. I've wiggled the cable, different outlets, made sure everything is tight, and attempted using all of my other phone chargers all to no avail with no changes and only discharging. I've also tried plugging just the USB into several computer USB ports. I've tried power cycling the Nexus and holding the power in for intervals ranging from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. I'm leaving it plugged in overnight to see if charges any, but other than this, I believe I have no other option but a return. What do you all think?

When you plugged your N7 into the computer did the computer recognize the device? If it didn't recognize that something was plugged in it would lead me to believe that the bottom USB port is faulty and you would need to either return it or get a replacement.

Make sure that while you are charging your N7 that in the notification area it says " charging." If not then it could possibly be the USB cable. I had the same thing happen to me. I happened to have an extra cable from my Samsung Galaxy phone.....used that one, and everything was good.

@creccaj1: The computer does not recognize that the Nexus 7 is plugged in.

@pbelfi: It does not say "charging". That's the problem. It's not the USB cable, I've tried many other cables that have not worked, as I've mentioned in the original post.

At this point, I'm returning the Nexus 7 to Walmart, and I'm going to try to exchange it for a different one.

Yea if it doesn't recognize it when you plug it in and even with a different USB cord its a problem with the device.
