If you go to the play store and swipe to the far left there is a categories section and you can look up apps by category also to help you find what you are looking for.

Widgets really set the experience apart. Many popular apps have them available, so enjoy making your new phone truly yours!

Well I got my new nexus and have downloaded many of the apps you guys mentioned in this post so thanks for those!! :D had a few issues with my speaker being too quite which I managed to fix with soundbooster and my phone had a bit of screenburn too which I'm in the process of fixing with a screen burn app from the app store. Other than that I'm loving the phone!! Way better than my iPhone!! Can see Nexus phones being my future phones for a while now :)

Also are there any really good note taking/shopping list apps. Basically I use an app called "clear" on my iphone, it lets me add a category e.g. shopping and then within that I can add items I want to go shopping for to remind myself when I go out, is there any app like this on android?

Our Groceries works great for a shopping list. I and my wife use it because it syncs flawlessly.

I use ColorNote from the Play store. It does do quick lists that are easy to generate. You can also click on an "X" for each item that you want to remove as you go through the list. It has lots of other features that I haven't explored. Looks like the developer put some good time into it. It's also free to download. I think you'll like it. It has very high reviews.

One more recommendation would be Catch note. It's similar to Evernote but it's more easily organised and has more types of notes, like task lists. One of Evernote's advantages is that its notes are like documents.
