I just got a new note 5 from verizon. They handed it to me with 11% battery. I expressed concern but they said it was fine, that they sometimes receive new phones from the factory with completely dead batteries and it doesn't matter. I have been using the phone for a few days and I am not impressed with the battery life. I feel I should be able to use it all day at full power but I am not able to do so. Thoughts?

Mine was the same way on Sunday (9/6) at my AT&T Store - it showed like 14% out of the box. My Sales Rep plugged it in (USB) while we were doing all the paperwork and I left there with 38%. I charged it when I got home and finally decided to let it run down yesterday to 14%. That was from 100% just after midnight on Tuesday night (Wed morning) until 9:00 PM Wednesday night with moderate use all day. I don't think 21 hours is bad at all!

Use the device for a week. The battery will settle by then. I do suggest charging your device when it gets to 20%...

Cheers guys. Battery performance does seem to be improving as time goes on. Good to know low charge level out of the box is not abnormal.

I usually charge before 40% if I can and I'm starting a new habit to stop charging before 90%. Don't know if it helps but with the power saver on that 50% range seems to last allonger day.
