New notification shape

The new pill shape notification in the UI, does that only show up on the home screen?

Nope. I have been in apps and gotten text messages via that pill notification.

Weird. I only see mine when I'm on the home screen and only for the messages app.

You can set your preferences in Settings > Display > Edge Screen > Edge Lighting > Always.

And then Manage Notifications and choose the apps.
