New OTA impact thread - please report in

Well I've been trying to get the OTA update all morning and it ain't happening! I'm in St Augustine, FL.

Been trying since yesterday. Just keeps saying "checking for new software " then just stops. Nothing saying that there isn't one. Just stops checking. Sacramento, CA

Transmitted through 4G via Thunderbolt

Got the OTA at 7:35 last night .Evidently the servers are swamped today. Live in SC.

getting the exact same problem in houston

In Quad Cities (IA/IL border), update was available when I checked in this morning. The download and installation processes were seamless. Now to see whether the reboots are gone or, as the update notes seem to suggest, merely "reduced" in number.

What about the desktop clock app that is supposed to be available according to official Verizon update page???????????

My GPS is worked better than ever with my short tests, the GPS Status app locks in a few seconds rather than minutes. MUCH better than before. Phone seems a bit faster? Too soon to tell battery. I have to use LTE On/Off to force phone in to 1x mode, then I could download the update.

I never had the reboot issues, just the GPS sucked, until now. I am happy, this will allow me to wait for Gingerbread patiently.

In NYC. After the update, I had to uninstall and reinstall both Skype (market version, not hacked) and Google+ (Just kept signing in continuously). Did this after a reboot and a battery pull. Other than that, the phone seems snappier as others have said. My GPS was fixed after the first OTA so it was fast to lock on. I did have to do the GPS reset after each OTA for it to work though. SMS is much better, pretty much my only real complaint thus far on the TB.

All the usual stuff people have mentioned before. Legit version of My Verizon. No tabbed apps thing or whatever it was supposed to be. I did not get the NYTimes app. And I think I'm one of the few that really wanted it... LTE toggle, eventhough it is buried, I'm sure someone will come up with some kind of widget for it.

I was getting a random reboot maybe once a week so it was not really a big deal for me. Didn't actually realize it until I checked my phone's awake time. We shall see. But so far, I'm seeing more + than - with this OTA.

Also, WTF with the oversized 3G symbol?

I actually had my first reboot in weeks this morning after I set up the My Verizon widget... funny how that works, isn't it?

Now I'm sure many of you have already noticed the problem with the leaked Skype Mobile with Video. Before anyone panics, let me explained what happened: Verizon was listening to you all when there was a resounding cry to just get the fix out and worry about Gingerbread later. So what did Verizon do? Pushed the fix without Gingerbread, which included the "fix" for the leaked Skype that was going to conflict with the official version. The Gingerbread update, which is now slated for late July, will include Skype Mobile with Video. They blocked the leaked version so it would not interfere with the official version.

Aside, those of you having signal issues, please do a forced programming on your phone: Turn off the phone, take out the battery, and slide the SIM tray out. Leave it like this for at minimum of 2 minutes. Then reassemble everything, making sure the battery cover is on securely, and boot the phone back up.

If your phone freezes on the boot screen, pull the battery, then when you are powering it back up, hold down the Volume Down button when you see the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen and keep holding it down until the phone boots up into Safe Mode.

I tried this last night. But I didn't wait 2 minutes. I have lost LTE at home where I had no problem before. If I turn off LTE and then back on it connects with 2 bars on LTE for about 30 seconds, then drops data for another 10 seconds and it's back to 3G. Prior to this update Speedtest was averaging 12mb down and 2mb up with no lag from home. Now all of a sudden I'm on the fringe? I don't think so. I can hit 5 towers from here and I'm less than 15 miles from downtown of a major city.

I'll try your method Mortiel since I appreciate your efforts here to share what info they trickle down to you. I'm not holding my breath for the 2 minutes though.

The appreciation is appreciated, but its actually my team that does most of the "trickling" of information when it comes to network-related phone programming and firmware. Official updates, network issues, and other related topics are where I get the "trickled" information.

On topic, after 2 minutes the SIM card times out and is registered as inactive on the LTE network and has to be reprogrammed immediately upon becoming active again (which takes only a few seconds and is not noticeable).
