New OTA impact thread - please report in

No more reboot by now any time I try to download from the market I get "download unsuccessful" nice job Verizon.

Surprisingly, my battery life has improved greatly, no reboots so far and things seem to be running a little faster and smoother. I am very happy!

Flashed the new official MR2 RUU last night as the phone wasn't getting the OTA update (was running the leaked MR2 from June 10). I prefer flashing anyway as it's a clean slate. Also, after flashing I always do a factory reset (hard reset/master reset), then set the phone up as needed. So far, all is good. No issues to speak of. The phone does seem a bit snappier and battery life is the same, may be slightly better.

The only thing I'd really like to do yet is test the phone in a 4G LTE area since I'm still in 3G only. May try to do that early next week by taking a drive to the nearest LTE area of Montgomery. :)

Had to start over because that update brick my phone and im not even rooted. Lost everything.

update went well last night and this afternoon i already had 1 random shutdown. had very few of those before this crappy update. thanks vzw. what a screw up, j**ks!

I'm interested to know if your factory reset helps. I may try that again, but I'm so tired of doing that and having to set up my phone all over again.

Factory reset was no help. I even tried flashing the full RUU and doing another factory reset when it finished (with battery pull for 5 minutes) but that didn't help either. I went to VZW today and was told until I switch out the phone 3 times they won't let me do anything but get a replacement. So Tue/Wed will bring the first replacement device and we'll go from there. It better be a spotless Thunderbolt or it'll go back for not being in the like new condition of the phone I paid for.

At this point I feel that I've been more than fair to HTC/Verizon. I haven't asked for a replacement, I haven't called and asked for monthly refunds, and I've been sitting tight waiting for the fix to the first update that started causing all these problems for me (not a single reboot before MR1). I'm ready to be done with VZW and their "flagship" phones (yes, I'm coming from a Storm 1) if they don't get their stuff together. If the replacements don't work, I'll root. If that doesn't fix these issues then I'm going to ETF the lines and move to AT&T since VZW has no other phones I'm interested in.

Factory reset was no help.
VZW has said that if a factory reset does not cure frequent reboots to exchange the phone. After what you say you have tried, I think it's probably time for that. With this most recent MR2 OTA it sounds like 95+ percent of the folks are happy with the TBolt.

I dont know if anyone has noticed yet but after this update the Apps saved on the SD card and put into a folder on ur home screen now displays the apps Icon and not just the generic android icon. I know its just looks but it something I was missing :)
and I still cant get over how "snappy" the home screens swipe now. very happy with this (even though its not GB) :D

After 24 hours I am happy to report no reboots. The phone does seem to work more smoothly as well. Can't complain. :) Now bring on GB!

Is anyone else having syncing issues? I have been getting exchange and gmail sync issues since installing the update. I have also not seen an improvement in gps lock.

Completely agree, just hate swapping phones out when a software update may fix the issue. Waiting on my refurb to arrive this week, hopefully I'll be joining that 95% soon. I do love the phone, if only it was functional for me.

Just experienced my first post-update random reboot...

Things seem snappy and quick but no more so than they were prior to the OTA update.

I actually had my first reboot in weeks this morning after I set up the My Verizon widget... funny how that works, isn't it?

Now I'm sure many of you have already noticed the problem with the leaked Skype Mobile with Video. Before anyone panics, let me explained what happened: Verizon was listening to you all when there was a resounding cry to just get the fix out and worry about Gingerbread later. So what did Verizon do? Pushed the fix without Gingerbread, which included the "fix" for the leaked Skype that was going to conflict with the official version. The Gingerbread update, which is now slated for late July, will include Skype Mobile with Video. They blocked the leaked version so it would not interfere with the official version.

Aside, those of you having signal issues, please do a forced programming on your phone: Turn off the phone, take out the battery, and slide the SIM tray out. Leave it like this for at minimum of 2 minutes. Then reassemble everything, making sure the battery cover is on securely, and boot the phone back up.

If your phone freezes on the boot screen, pull the battery, then when you are powering it back up, hold down the Volume Down button when you see the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen and keep holding it down until the phone boots up into Safe Mode.
Does doing the battery pull and "forced programming" mean I have to completely reset up the phone?

No. It is just a way of ensuring that your phone auto-programs itself and the SIM on startup. All routine. No data lost.

Same here - I don't know what they are talking about.
Once you open your App Drawer, touch the menu option. You will see an option that says "list" - this will place all of your apps in alpha order. If you want to switch back, follow the same steps and choose "grid." This is the only difference I can find in the application drawer. Not sure why this would be called tabbed.

Well it's 11:48 Saturday night and I still can't get the OTA. I must have hit "Check new" at least 100 times today. Also tried multiple reboots and two battery pulls, one of which included pulling the SIM tray for more than 2 min just for kicks. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
