New OTA impact thread - please report in

I have heard people have success getting the update by rebooting their phones.
Booted numerous times and did all I know how to do to get the update, I guess I need to have some more patience. Still love my bolt and Verizon is not as bad as people say they are, IMHO

Get the LTEOnOff app from the market. Switch to CDMA, then try the check for update again. When it finds it, quickly switch back to CDMA+LTE and download it. It will probably be a little slow.

Yes, lots of them. Don't really see any improvement on my phone.

I'm still rebooting constantly. Time to try another factory reset and if that fails bring this thing back to VZW. With they had another phone I'd consider so I could dump this one.

Now that the official fix is here, If after performing a factory data reset and doing the remove SIM for 2 minutes (making sure the battery door is affixed tightly), you still get reboots then it is a fairly safe assumption that you have a hardware defect. :(

The VZW ad says...
Build Number: 1.70.605.0 Baseband: 1.39.00.0613w, 0.01.69.0613w_1

But I now have
Build Number: 1.70.605.0 Baseband: 1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r

Anyone else notice this or have a different Baseband revision?

Rob

Since I now have what you do (and I did a full RUU load not just an OTA) I would guess it is a typo on Verizon's part. That doc has probably been revised several times as they expected to release various builds and had to move on to the next one.

No more reboot by now any time I try to download from the market I get "download unsuccessful" nice job Verizon.

I've been having the same issue but it does not appear to be anything from the phone as apps are installing from the Amazon App Store just fine. This started about halfway through re-downloading my apps. I have been manually pushing the remaining apps to my phone from the market website. I think my IP address was blocked due to excessive downloading or something. Same thing happened with the leaked MR2. It cleared itself up later that day.

And to add on to that, after the update you should no longer need the LTE On/Off app.

Simply go to Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode

Does doing the battery pull and "forced programming" mean I have to completely reset up the phone?

No. This is NOT a factory data reset.

What he is describing is the equivalent of the old *228 option 1 programing. With LTE/GSM those updates are pushed to the phone automatically, what Mortiel describes is a way to force the network to push the programming to the phone.

**** REMINDER: DO NOT do *228 on a 4G phone.****

Once you open your App Drawer, touch the menu option. You will see an option that says "list" - this will place all of your apps in alpha order. If you want to switch back, follow the same steps and choose "grid." This is the only difference I can find in the application drawer. Not sure why this would be called tabbed.
That's not new. You could change between grid and list before the update.

anyone else notice the addition of a tab for vcast music and vcast videos on default music and video player? it is a tad bit annoying especially when doing something. i keep accidentally hitting it and opening up the stupid VZW download thing instead of hitting play.

Well, I decided to wait a day before reporting, and what a lousy day it was.

I am having really bad GPS and signal issues. I was driving a client around looking at homes all day and was not able to use the GPS except for locating his home to pick him up. After that it just crapped out and couldn't find sats. We had to navigate the old fashion way. Then the phone was flip flopping between 3G, 1X, and no signal too. I reset it and then it was fine for a little bit, but then it went all wonky again. Just a couple hours ago it completely lost signal at the grocery store across the street where I normally get good 4G signal and it dropped a call. It is stuck on 3G now. I'm going to yank the battery and do a good, full reset and then go through all the setting, but right now things aren't looking too good. Phone was working great on the MR1 and had very strong signal and GPS. Weird...

Turn off the phone, remove the battery and the SIM card and leave it out for 2 minutes. Then put it all back together and power it up again. That should fix your signal issues.

That's not new. It came from a previous google maps update.

Thanks! I did pull the battery for a couple minutes, but not the SIM. It seems to be OK at the moment, but I will go ahead and yank the battery again along with the SIM...just to make sure it's (hopefully) happy!

My update was easy. My wife's Thunderbolt has not been updated yet. When I check for updates it just goes away. Verizon tech support and HTC says that updates are in waves and her phone will get it eventually.
Have not road tested my phone yet but the first thing I've noticed is how much smoother and faster the OS is.

Battery life is better for me, I wasn't having any reboot issues so I can report on that.GPS locks position much quicker.
So far I'm very happy with the update!

Well I'd have to say my experiences with this update are generally - and cautiously - mixed. I haven't had a reboot or shutdown since the update, but my GPS performance has been very poor, and the battery usage not really improved.

On the GPS, I got none of the "oh I can get a fix from inside my living room" kind of performance that people reported here (and that I honestly myself thought I was seeing Friday night). I found the GPS signal pickup horrible indoors, and it misreported my position by almost a mile in most cases. Too soon to call that a bust though - I need more testing time with it.

Battery performance was poor yesterday, but then I realized I didn't have LTE turned off. I have since done that so I'll see what the coming test days show.

Jury's still out for me!
