New OTA impact thread - please report in

My experiance has been pretty much the same as everyone here has said. Very impressed with GPS. My job involves traveling to peoples houses all over the Denver area. It used to take at LEAST 5 minuets on average to lock now I lock within 3-5 second of turning on GPS. I'll have to wait till I go back to work were I really use my phone the most to see if battery life has improved. My data connection at home has improved tremendously. I now have consistent 4g where as before I would drop data and then connect to 3g and switch back and forth. The OS definitively runs faster. I use widget locker and I've noticed that I rarely have to deal with have the 5 second rule now. As for reboots I can't say because I was one of the lucky ones who never had to worry about it after the last update :)

Yeah. Obviously they just made use of the total space allocated. With the 4G/LTE the "LTE" portion takes up the space of almost another character on the end. Looks like they widened the 3G display to use this otherwise wasted space. IDM (It don't matter :) ).

Its what will appear when you get GB, thats what it changed to on th Droid X when I got the GB update.

Update took forever to download. Even though I had wifi on it downloaded on 3g. It was weird seeing the wifi icon on and the 3g icon at the same time. Other than that update has worked great. Gps locks on fast. I turned off lte and I swear my battery life is better since I don't have access to 4g. My phone used to reboot only at work, 2 or 3 times a day. Since the update not one reboot, and I have worked both days. All is good!

Had my first reboot since OTA Fri @ 7pm central. 2-5 a day prior. We'll see?

Please post regarding your experience with the following items after the update:
- Initial impressions
- Reboots
- Reliable data connection
- Battery life
- New issues
- New features

We are aware that Verizon is adding bloat. Let's try not to repeat ourselves regarding that point.

No thrilling impressions from me. Connectivity seems to be the same. Battery life seems worse. Had my first 'shut down' (not a reboot) about 20 hours after update. Yippee!

had an issue with sms. the phone slowed waaaaaay down while typing a msg. I would type a word then have to wait for it to type then type the next one etc...
Very strange

Faster boot times
Slightly better battery life over the leak
No random reboots or shutdowns
Haven't tested gos.

So much for this update. I was running the leaked MR2 and had no reboots. I updated to the latest official release and I have seen the GPS dropouts like people are reporting and tonight on my way home in the middle of a phone conversation...BAM...REBOOT !!!!!!

Needless to say I am not exactly thrilled. I'm having a hard time believing after all this time that the reboots can't be understood and eliminated. I didn't even have the data network turned on so it can't be a 3G-4G-3G transition thing.

Still no update for me and I have to say that may be a good thing, I have tried everything everyone mentioned here and on a bike ride up and down Rt 19 here in PA I can say that I tried it in Erie with a strong 4g signal and it Da Burg with both strong 4g and weak 4g and even turned4g off but no go. I have to admit that it sounds like that may be a good thing from the reports of trouble. I also still have my mobile hotspot and that is a benefit IMHO:D

That works to get rid of doubles. My problem is I had deleted them a long time ago (I never use them), so I went from them being gone completely to coming back, with no way (that I see so far) to delete or hide them. I wish I wasn't forced to have them at the top of my contacts list.

I had the same VZW contacts at the top of my contact list when I first got my bolt. I editied the VZW contacts and put a Z in front of the # sign. Ex. Z#BAL Although still present in my contact list, they;re now at the bottom of the list and less annoying. ;)

Correction: I applied the update. have the VZW Contacts again!! And am not able to edit them now.

I just found one problem...my rss feeds wont sync and I can't unsubscribe them either.

I've run into this problem also and I haven't applied the update yet.

Press the menu botton / Settings / Applications /Manage Applications / All / Scroll down to News / Select it then clear the data.

Ater the update, my extended battery only lasts a few hours. And this is not heavy use. I can imagine how short it would last while streaming a radio station (before the update, it could last round 4 hours with the LTE radio off).
ALSO - battery takes at least 3x longer to charge. I thought something was wrong and tried several other chargers including car charger.
Anyone else having battery issues?
Other than the battery issue, no reboots, but GPS seems to take a bit longer. Will try the suggested GPS Fix and see if that helps.

I would do a shut down and battery pull on your phone. Might have something "stuck" that is eating up a lot of juice that a reset will fix.

had my first random power shutdown on bamf 2.1 + the new OTA radio this morning. i had to do a battery pull. very disheartening.

if it happens again ill be asking best buy/verizon for a new replacement.
