New OTA on Verizon Support

I downloaded it just before 1PM EDT. I actually received the last OTA before VZW pulled it. I don't see a difference. One thing that is annoying is that you can no longer go into the app tray and just scroll as far and as fast as you like. It scrolls one "page" at a time. Is there any way to change this?

The differences between the last Gingerbread update and this new one are fairly minimal. They basically fixed the voicemail notifications for basic voicemail and got the front-facing camera working in Google Talk. Other than that, I think it was pretty much a bunch of security updates and a few tweaks.

I don't know about changing the scrolling on the app tray, sorry. If there isn't an obvious setting somewhere in the menu, it's probably just the new way it works.

Just received mine about an hour ago Orl, FL. Very fast update and mine was a little smaller in mb, possibly cause of having the first GB update. Mine down loaded about 1.33mb instead of the 1.64. Very smooth update no issues and very fast so far. Will let you guys know more later.

Just got it! The teleporting feature is cool but kind of buggy. WTF?

You have to download the quantum entanglement app from the appstore, otherwise your legs end up in one place and your arms end up in a box with a possibly-dead cat.

Thanks! I almost spit my drink all over my screen! I'm literally rolling on the floor laughing out loud here! :D:p

Thanks for the tip. Once I download/install the app, my cat will regenerate, yes? Or do I have to do yet another factory reset?

You need to get the phone in a quantum state. There are many ways to do this, but the easiest is to start the factory reset with about 10% battery remaining so you don't know whether it will complete or not, and immediately put the phone in a sealed box where you can't see it.

As long as the box remains unopened, the phone remains in an acceptable quantum state and the app will work. Or at least it would work, except in order to operate it you need to get to your phone and that collapses the quantum state.

Or it could be that the app is a ripoff based on the general public's misunderstanding of quantum physics. I asked the author about this, and he said if he answered it then the question would lose its quantum state and collapse an entire universe, killing billions.

I didn't want the justification of my $49.95 to kill billions of possibly existent people, so I left well enough alone.

I am waiting for my phone to update so I can utilize the flux capacitor so I can go back to the future.

If and when it regenerates, they will listen to your commands and not look at you with utter disgust.

That's all fine and good but what about my cat?

A quick update: In case anyone is still having issues with a download that failed, a friend of mine at work cleared the cache on the downloader app, and was able to download and install the new OTA shortly after that.

menu | settings | applications | manage applications | "all" tab, or possibly "running" tab | Download manager | clear data

Faster and easier than a battery pull...

Will this change anything else?

My phone just had Gingerbread pushed to it -- no notification to me, no chance to decline, etc (at least that I saw-- phone wasn't being used and in another room at the time; came back to it and it had lost ~8% battery, so I looked a bit closer and it had rebooted and Gingerbread had installed)

So stragglers beware! Verizon's after us! ;) (I was quite happy with MR2 and was kind of enjoying waiting to make sure everything seemed ok on the GB update, and was debating rooting... which I know I can still do but now I have to play with GB )

My phone all of a sudden rebooted and when i looked at my screen it was installing the latest update... without my permission!

Ugh, so after my (non-consensual) update to Gingerbread last night, my phone's being all wonky with data today. It tells me it can't scan for wifi (??) and it won't connect to 3g data at all (and I normally left my phone in 3g to save battery unless I needed 4g).

4g does seem to be working. Wifi was working last night before I turned off the phone. (I turn off my phone at night; when I turned it on it told me there was an update for my phone-- the one it already installed!! Gee, thanks. I hit "OK" but it [of course] didn't do anything else)

I thought it was maybe Juice Defender (figures, I just bought Ultimate from Amazon and now I got the GB update forced; is JD still incompatible with GB?) so I disabled it and restarted but still the same problems.

Anyone else?

If this turns into "do a factory reset to clear everything up" I think it's time to root.... :P

Thanks, Verizon! :P I was 100% happy with my Bolt before this update.
