New OTA pushing now

VZW is notoriously slow in pushing updates. I wouldn't expect them to finish pushing this to everyone for 4-6 weeks. FWIW, I work in an office of 30 people and everyone was issued a Droid 4, and only 2 of us have ICS. And we both manually forced the update.

Interesting. Things must have changed since the days when I had my Droid 2. I almost always got my update within a day or two of it being released. Going 4+ days without it being released was unheard of. You'd think with LTE they'd be able to push it out faster than in the 3G days.

Answered my own question. DL from here: ICS Leak 6.16.217 Update zip, boot.img and crc - xda-developers
In that zip there's a zip that's the official update, copy to external SD card, boot into recovery, install, done.

This method is perfect for those who have never rooted their phone. I was a BlackBerry guy so I could do that stuff like no tomorrow, but on Android, I was a rookie. Yet this method, after asking a few questions here, was easy to do. Then to install it on the Droid 4s of my wife and mother-in-law was incredibly easy. Downloaded the main zip file once for my phone, and just moved the actual update zip file (found in the original zip) to the other two phones, went to town, and all was well.

So why doesnt double-tapping the space bar insert a period, be it virtual or physical keyboard? The option is turned on for both yet it doesn't happen. Kind of annoying to me. anyone else have this issue? Anything I can tweak or fix to make this right?

EDIT: I have auto correct and auto capitalization turned on and it does it now. If I turn them off, then inserting a period won't work. Is this a bug?

FINALLY got mine in Central Ohio at around 1am this morning. It's much improved over Gingerbread, that's for sure!

Late to the ICS party...
Got the OTA yesterday, had to rename the 20 or so bloatware apps and reboot before upgrade would work. Also temporarily unrooted via voodoo but not sure if that was necessary. Did not have to rename the "DROID' startup sound file.

Can't seem to toggle 4G off/on anymore. Also the app I used to turn off/on GPS brings me to the GPS settings page now, rather than just toggling it.

Sure made my Bionic carrying buddies jealous though.

got the OTA of ICS this afternoon (sys version 6.16.217.XT894.Verizon.en.US) but didn't do anything about turning off Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, or changing anything before allowing the update...

it would appear that I can still browse the root directories with ROM Toolbox, and I can select "Restore Root" from within Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, but it doesn't actually do anything to restore root on the phone as verified with Root Check Basic...

...has anyone seen a decent batch script that can be run to re-root an ICS phone in this situation? I tried one out there, but it just said it was already rooted... frustrating

Ugh! Won't let me update!

I switched back to my stock ROM and used the RootKeeper (I didn't do anything to the apps and bloatware) I downloaded the update than it powered back on to Gingerbread, I tried downloading again, a few errors, but than it said update was unsuccessful.

Help? Also I know theres no 4G toggle anymore ;( does it have the same battery/hear problems as the Razr-series?

Upgraded the wifes D4 2 days ago, so far no complaints from her about any problems or issues.
