CM Security with CM cleaner is the best I've seen. That's what I use..

It's my understanding that you really shouldn't need one, especially if you stick with Play Store approved apps.

I wouldn't say that's obvious. I have plenty of friends with Android phones and none have used anti-virus. None have had problems so far.

The Verizon s5 comes pre loaded with a decent one branded by Verizon.

I use Lookout. At first it was Advanced System Care, but then I realized it was slowing my phone down quite a bit. I like Lookout's device manager. If you pay so much a month for their premium service, your phone takes a picture and last location and emails you anytime it's turned off. So if some id10t steals your phone, you might get a chance to see the perp. It sends all this to you in email.
