New phone routine?

I wash my hands open the box and admire it.

I go through it for a few minutes before making any changes and customizing.

Right now LG is the only phone I change the launcher to Nova Prime as soon as possible, otherwise I spend a few days with it like with my OnePlus 5 Soft Gold.

I spend at least 24 hours customizing and fine tuning.

BTW, I'm aware it's not necessary but out of the box I try to drain the battery down to 5-10% before fully charging it.

Rip open. box, giggle like a school girl, power on, giggle like a school girl, log in, giggle like a school girl, start playing with settings WHILE giggling like a school girl!

My routine is pulled out from box and examine its accessories
also a quick glance to the owners manual. Although don't
read anything due to the tiny written text

I enter the Phone model in my Pc and download its
PDF instructions on How to used

Next I turn on the phone and observe the % percent of charge
after that I make a phone call to my new phone from my

Landline Phn and heard if is Samsung the "Over the horizon"
ring >>proceed to changed: Then move the Settings
and Messages icons from app drawer

to Home screen: It take Me at least 2days to Setup
everything: So what do You do first..Tell us

When I get a new phone, or electronic device, or well actually anything new that I've been looking forward to getting, I don't rush it.I like to just
I wait until I get time to sit down and enjoy that 1K moment.
Get a cup of coffee. Maybe even read some instructions, peruse the paperwork, and we all here know that we've done our research.
After that, THEN I turn it on and just do the setup as usual.
I'm just starting from scratch and popping the SD from my Note 4 into the Note 8.
And just sit in the big chair, alone, and flipping through it and drinking coffee.
Because there's nothing like the smell of a new phone, right?
I plan to be doing this routine a week from right now because it's delivered Tuesday, but we're going out of town Monday and back Saturday.
So, when I get back Saturday, it'll be waiting.
That's the way I plan to do it and I like to do it.....
BUT really now>>>who am I kidding?
Ima unload/unpack, make coffee and open that box and power up that much awaited for puppy!
What's your routine when you get a new phone?

You mean AFTER my naked 'new phone dance?'< picture a woman doing the Carlton dance>

I'm on call 24/7 so my process is a little weird and since this time I've decided to do all my installs from scratch it will take that much longer.
  • Pull out the SIM so it can't talk to Verizon and only setup main email and wifi
  • Manually install all my apps
  • Configure all apps and sounds add additional emails.
  • Put SIM back in and switch to new phone.

Initially I just sign into all my Google Apps and other accounts. Then, when I have some time, I will explore the phone. Usually I do this in the middle of the night so I'm not bothered and I can focus. Once I have done all my exploring, I can just use the smartphone naturally.

Coming from iPhone again, I'll do it a little different than most. Tomorrow I'm backing up media on Google drive. Then Tuesday, pick up my Budweiser. Come home, unpack everything. SD card from my N7 in, screen protector, case, and charge it to 100% while I have dinner. Come back and manually enter all contact info(last year I used smart switch), and then go through every app I have on the iPhone and find it in the play store. Disable bloatware, and then place it back on the charger before bed. Ah Tuesday can't come quick enough here!

How'd everything go?

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - "Manually install all my apps"
I always do that too

Question. Do you guys use the sidesync app? How do you guys usually transfer apps to phone? And pictures and data to computer as well? Thanks.

I manually installed a few things, then ended up using Smart Switch for some additional detailed stuff

I love this thread!!! I'm about to do the same thing here in a couple hours. that said does anyone know if Nova settings Can be backed up to the cloud for restoration on the new toy?

Smart switch is so easy and awesome. I have everything transferred over, I've never had any issues with it

Does anyone else pull the sim card out first? Is that really helpful in any way?

My new phone routine is to constantly pick it up and lose some sleep the first night

This is exactly what happened to me last night 🤣🤣🤣 when I came home from work, my phone was waiting for me. I showered, ate dinner, then stayed up until 2 in the morning making sure everything was set up the way I liked. Mind you, I had to be up by 7am for work lol
