I did the same. Someone on the T-Mobile thread said they selected S7 and got approved. Hopefully, we will, too. If not, I am re-submitting with a different e-mail and choosing "other".

I chose other and used my exchange receipt and just got approved. Not sure if I'll use the vr, but I already have the sd card. After spending 2.5 hours exchanging my phone Monday I'll take anything they're willing to give.
I didn't realize folks were successfully doing this... I would've tried with my loaner S7 Edge. With the original N7 release, I chose the GearFit 2. And I just I submitted the new promo a few hours ago, not expecting it to get approved.
But it did. I chose the Gear VR. 256 GB is too much Micro SD for me, even though I probably could sell it for something more. (I'll likely just pick up a EVO+ around Black Friday when prices are cheaper. Amazon usually has great deals). I actually will use the Gear VR, though. Pretty happy.

You can get notifications from apps and when you have incoming phone calls (you're able to answer/decline the call, and then it goes to your phone). But it isn't used as an actual "phone," like the Gear S (I think that's the one where you can talk through the watch).
The old receipt still works? Old receipt shows that I ordered in August, but of course I replaced the old phone with the new note 7...so I can just put the purchased date for September and it's okay if doesn't match my receipt date?
Has anyone else received this message? If so, what did you do? I submitted my purchase date as 9/21 and my EIP shows 9/21.

yep i used the exchange receipt showing the return and repurchase of the new one from best buy. woohoo mine just now changed to approved and preparing for shipment!

It's probably because your receipt date doesn't match up. That's why they ask for a copy of the purchase receipt along with your phone and retail outlet info. So they can verify your info against the info you have entered.
used my exchanged receipt from sprint too. it doesnt say what the previous phone was but does show the new one as note 7 coral has pricing with 9/19 date. if a get approved yaye if not then o well.

The purchase window for the Gear Fit 2 promo ended 8/28 and they are no longer accepting submissions for that promo, even if your purchase was before 8/28.
Samsung.com/promotions will show active promotions and their qualifying dates.
