NEW Reddit User w/Phone in Hand

Early shippers! So far sounds like he likes it.

So if there is one out there that happened to ship early. Have any idea when the reviews will be available?
Am guessing the 17th-18th? But maybe Google should lift the info embargo(assuming there is one) a little
early as those returning Note 7's are shopping for a replacement right now.

There is an embargo, I believe it lifts next Wednesday.

Pondering switching over from iOS for the first time because of the Pixel and Google Fi but have the vague impression that the Android interface is not quite as smooth / has more latency (the lag)?

Press an app and lags to open. Its not like its a secret.

I understand when your pushing the phone, but not when there is nothing running and it lags to open an app. I have used them all, Android, Apple, Windows, BB and lets face it Android still lags. I am not pro Android, pro Apple, pro Windows, I view them all for their pros and cons. But I still dot see why a pure android phone in 2016 still lags and they do unlike some who say they don't.

And you are correct. Its not smooth and lags, sooner or later.

Ok, there is time between every action and response on every computer system - that's because an interface doesn't do much of anything until you tell it to and there's a delay, even if not noticable, between when you do something, when it recognizes that and when it provides feedback.

I'm asking what you mean by "typical android lag". Is it typically excessive, or noticeably slow or are you referring to animations? Is it worse than or better than other OS? Is it worse or better on some devices vs others?

You realize iOS and Windows Phone do the same thing? They use slow flashy animations to hide it. Apps hibernate, the only time i've ever seen this "lag" is opening up an app thats not actively using CPU. If it bothers you that much, open up the dev options and increase the animation scale.

I've been reading through his post on Reddit, great read and glad someone has one to give us some info! I'm pretty new to the benchmark tests, but, it seems the test results for the Pixel are way behind the S7 and iPhone 6 & 7. Am I seeing it wrong?! Thanks!

Ill worry about it when we see them in hands (plural) versus one. Its fun reading but no way am I going to make any decision based on one review. Ill wait for the mega "I got it and man..." thread here.

That's normal for any android phone. Apple's chip is a beast!
