Checked out the Note 8 in person today, thing has only been on display for a few days.

Any way I noticed how thin the new S Pen tip is compared to old devices, and how their demo was broken off at the end of it. I know it was broken because they had both colors on display and the other was fine.

I doubt it's an issue with the phone, but more of a WTF did someone do to it. Why are people so abusive of demo units?

When I viewed the Note 7 during preorder last year the display was broken from a customer banging it on the counter.

I should also share that I did like the phone, it has a good size and feel to it considering how massive the display is. Had no lag, and from what I could tell in store the camera is really nice.

Cause some people just don't care or are just reckless. Or maybe someone's kid got a hold of it. If it was an adult, I'd hate to see how their phones look. But some won't treat theirs that way but will someone else's. "Hey y'all let's go break a demo unit so nobody else can try it"

If a customer is seen banging a display unit on the table until the glass breaks, workers should check the parking lot cameras and go out and slash their tires. See how they appreciate destruction of property that isn't theirs.

Hahaha😂

I am more a fan of 'you break it, you bought it'

I read on another forum, possibly S8 and S8+, where this guy said he totally abused a display to see how tough it was. Of course he got flamed for it. It's just not cool to go around "testing toughness" of devices. It's actually punishable by fines and/or jail time. Charge: Simple criminal damage to property. At least it is here in Louisiana.

Because those people don't care and abuse displays....

It's really very sad,
-some people think it's funny,
-some think it's cool to break things that aren't theirs.
-some people just don't care because it's not their expense...
If you break something by accident that sucks but it's forgivable because you didn't intend to, if you do it on purpose there should be some form of penalty (Just MHO)

Cheers,

All these conclusions that someone broke it on purpose. Lmao! Maybe it just broke or the tip fell out?

That is a very real possibility, I think most in this thread feel that's not likely since the device would have been in place for less than a week. Heck, if it breaks so easily I think there will be many very unhappy users of the N8 (myself included)... :)

Well, we kinda got off subject and were discussing the scenario that someone else mentioned where they saw someone beating a phone on the counter and breaking the display.

But yes, in this instance it may have been by total accident.

Why? It's not coming out of the worker's pockets if someone breaks a demo unit.

Was it broken or was the tip gone? These tips can be removed. Maybe they just pulled it out. Normally you need a tool, like the one that will be provided, but it might be easy for others to do without the tool.

To bad you didn't get a pic. I'd like to be prepared and compare to my Note 8 when it arrives.

I saw that too, guy claimed he thought that's why it was on display, to show how tough it was to damage...
