That's what I'm referring to. I have 4 lines with them at present. I get a 23% discount because of my employer. The way that Sprint does the discount is they only discount for 1 line. Right now with the share everything plan the first two lines are $130. They end up giving a discount on a percentage of about $90 of that. The way the new pricing structure looks to be setup, I have a feeling the amount of that discount will be less.

Plus, if I figure out the cost of the new plans for my 4 lines to have unlimited data (which I currently have) I'd be paying more. Yes, at present I have 1500 shared minutes but have unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier, so the unlimited minutes on the new plans isn't a big incentive for me to switch to them.

So from what I can see, I intend to hold onto my current plan as long as I can.

My present plan is the share everything data family 1500:
$130 for first 2 lines (includes data for both)
the other two lines are $30 ea (including the data charge)

New plans the pricing would be:

line 1 - $50
line 2 - $40
line 3 - $30
line 4 - $20

plus $30 x 4 for unlimited data for each

The only thing the new plan would give me is completely unlimited minutes


Edit: So I think I initially misunderstood the plan a bit. I'm thinking the pricing for each additional line is the same for each additional line depending on the number of lines you have. So I have 4 lines:

Since i have a total of 4 lines each additional is $20 (if I had 3 lines each additional would be $30, etc...)

So the breakdown for me is:

line 1 - $50
line 2 - $20
line 3 - $20
line 4 - $20

toal of $110

Then $30 for unlimited data for each line for a toal of $230.

It's still cheaper for me to keep my existing plan by about $40

If your new interpretation is correct each line would be $20. It doesn't say "first line is 50 then add your number of additional lines".

Yeah I'm thinking my first interpretation is correct which makes it quite a bit more than my current plan. Either why this isn't better imo over the share everything 1500.

Yea i dont doubt it, although I see no reason why they would do this now. Aside from tmobile, they are the only other carrier that was trying to set att and Verizon straight. It'd be a shame if they ended up like them too.

Left sprint a little over 3 weeks ago for T-mobile. They just trying to push people onto new plans before July 14 when T-mobile jump addon for $10 that includes insurance but also lets you upgrade your phone every 6 months and you pay new customer price for the phone all you got to do is trade in your current phone, & $20 a month phone payments start over. I like how T-mobile changing the came and that there corporate discount is for every line not just primary because with sprint I was getting 25% now I am only getting 12% but it kinda even out because its on both my lines. I was paying $158 for both lines on sprint with insurance now I am paying $135 + $40 for the phones on tmobile not a huge difference. But I have lte in NJ with tmobile and now I got phones I can actually sell because right now I got 2 currently replaced HTC EVO 4G LTE in box that Ive been told are only worth $55-$90.

If this will be a forced thing I'll be forced to another carrier. I see zero reason for me to nab unlimited minutes and pay more for it when I have unlimited mobile which is majority of my usage.

WARNING - I JUST READ THIS ON SPRINT'S SITE -

I have a discount through my employer. Does my employer discount work with the new plans?

Discounts apply to the monthly data charge rather than the primary rate plan for lines on the Unlimited, My Way plan. The My All-in plan is non-discountable.

Example -

Old Plan = $70.99/Month x 22% Discount = $62.39/Month + Taxes and Fees

New Plan = $80/Month x 22% Discount on $30 Data Piece Only = $73.40/Month + Taxes and Fees

Difference = $11.01/Month + Taxes and Fees

of course the "New Plan" includes Unlimited Landline Talk and "Old Plan" does not.

This tells me that Sprint is no longer in a pricing competition with T-Mobile and they are basically letting them take the low end and compete with prepaid (which is also largely a Sprint market with Boost and Virgin)

Softbank's CEO has said some pretty bold things about what he intends to do with Sprint's network above and beyond Network Vision. I guess the litmus test here is too see how fast this new cash can improve the network so that people find value in these new plans.

Although they might not mind some people throwing in the towel. That would actually be a benefit to their network short term.

i like Sprint - been with them since 2008 - but i'm gone in a few months. i want a Nexus direct from the Play Store and i want the freedom of a BYOD carrier. and i don't want to be locked into contracts. hence - AT&T Go Phone Unlimited Talk/Text and 2GB Plan for $60/Month + Next New Nexus is where i'm headed. any downsides to this?

Only downside would be the Nexus 4 if that was your choice.
No SD card slot , No removable battery , Not so great battery life and can be a hot box.
The Display is pretty though

The site says get on the plan now to lock in guaranteed for life unlimited.... Why would you need to lock in?... Unless they are going away from unlimited data in the future.

I think it's just a selling point. If they do move away it will be a long time from now, they just want to stand out against AT&T and Verizon. People these days just assume they will lose unlimited eventually, so they are putting a stake in the ground.

Haha. Exactly. When they finally make a commitment everyone finds a different problem. It is an impressive guarantee and shouldn't be laughed off. If you're not in a good coverage area, then fine, but I use 8-10GB a month in Sprint LTE, so it works for me.

It's not so much that I care about losing unlimited, it's the 30$ price increase well get on our bill with the new contract which is already 240$.

What I would really like to see sprint do is start cracking down and throttling 3g users who use more than 4gb of data a month. That's an exorbitant amount of data to use, and I have seen a lot of people do so. It's bad enough we have mvnos leeching on the network, let alone it's own customers.

I could care less about the 4g wimax usage but the same goes for 4g lte when that finally wraps up.

I guess we all agree this is bad, really bad!

Those or most of us with Sprint are there because of 2 things; the price and unlimited data. If the price goes up, a lot of us will go out to look for greener pastures.

For me, and many of you, that means T-Mobile. But I'm sure Verizon and AT&T will gain a lot of new customers from Sprint too.

I just got my Galaxy S4 on July 1, so I will have until July 2015 to decide if I jump ship or not. We'll see.

For now, I get decent 3G and faster LTE compared to WiMax on my Photon around here, and nobody is trying to impose those new plans on me.
