New Sprint Plans

I guess we all agree this is bad, really bad!

Those or most of us with Sprint are there because of 2 things; the price and unlimited data. If the price goes up, a lot of us will go out to look for greener pastures.

For me, and many of you, that means T-Mobile. But I'm sure Verizon and AT&T will gain a lot of new customers from Sprint too.

I just got my Galaxy S4 on July 1, so I will have until July 2015 to decide if I jump ship or not. We'll see.

For now, I get decent 3G and faster LTE compared to WiMax on my Photon around here, and nobody is trying to impose those new plans on me.

Yep. If I was forced to up my price I'll use Tmobile. Unlimited and then I can just use wifi calling at my house (my house kills all cell reception lol).

Used to be is correct. They obviously are making the bold statement that their only differentiator now is unlimited. Price is equally as high as competition.

Personally, I think they played this card to soon. They should have waited until their lte was completely rolled out. If i was joint sprint now, I'd be very hesitant.

I take it no one noticed the fine print that says the roaming limit is now 100MB vs the old 300MB, and that video streaming maybe limited to 1mbps. These all in all are a complete downgrade from the oder Everything plans.

Wow, I didn't see that! Granted I honestly didn't know there was a roaming limit to begin with.

I spoke at length with a CSR yesterday about the changes. All in all I would end up paying less(we all use less than 1gb). Who it really effects is the other three lines on my account(aside from my wife and I's). Their price would go up a whole lot because now they not only have to pay for the new line, but the data as well. So I think those with just one or two lines the prices aren't too different, it's beyond 2 lines that the prices have gone up significantly.

Luckily they aren't forcing us to switch... For now. It wouldn't surprise me if in a year or two they force the change.

I was thinking they would end up changing their plans a few months ago. Personally I was hoping they would go for a larger data bucket(5 or 10 gb) for the prices they are pushing.

There's also been a change to the T&C, it basically states they reserve the right to kick you off your plan at any time should it become "unavailable."

"We may change any part of the Agreement at any time, including, but not limited to, rates, charges, how we calculate charges, discounts, coverage, technologies used to provide services, or your terms of Service. If you lose your eligibility for a particular rate plan or if a particular rate plan is no longer supported or available, we may change your rate plan to one for which you qualify. We will provide you notice of material changes?and we may provide you notice of non-material changes?in a manner consistent with this Agreement (see "Providing Notice To Each Other Under The Agreement" section). If a change we make to the Agreement is material and has a material adverse effect on Services under your Term Commitment, you may terminate each line of Service materially adversely affected without incurring an Early Termination Fee only if: (a) call us within 30 days after the effective date of the change; ( you specifically advise us that you wish to cancel Services because of a material change to the Agreement that we have made; and ? we fail to negate the change after you notify us of your objection to it. If you do not notify us and cancel Service within 30 days of the change, an Early Termination Fee will apply if you terminate Services before the end of any applicable Term Commitment."

So basically they can force us to switch. Plus they're taking away some of the finer features such as roaming and video watching.

Basically, but I doubt they're going to do it right away. Too many people on family plans in non NV completed areas would go running to VZW and AT&T in a heartbeat. This very well could only be because of the Nextel shutdown, and the eventual WiMax decomissioning. We'll see down the road, plus online the only plan option you're presented with now is these new plans.

I don't think its bad, I just signed up for the new individual plan yesterday and I'm quite happy with it. I have unlimited every thing With 5GB of hotspot. That's awesome for me. It gives me a real peace of mind. With AT&T I was always worrying about my caps.

I agree, for an individual it's not that bad, but for those of us with large number of lines on the 1500 minute family plans are getting totally screwed, and not even getting the benefit of a kiss...

So, can we brake free from contract now that Sprint changed their Terms & Service?

I disagree. Why would I want to pay more as an individual? I get absolutely nothing but unlimited land line which I don't use..

As an individual you get the 5GB hotspot! That's not nothing!

How are you paying more as an individual? It's $80 for Unlimited everything on a smartphone now, the old Everything Data 450 is 79.99 for smartphone users.

It is for me.. Nothing to tether.

I have the 450 one and its $92 after taxes. The my all in is 110 before....

Yes, but there's a normal individual plan that's $50 for unlimited talk and text plus $30 for unlimited data. If you have a discount on the new plan it only applies to the data plan unfortunately. Also do you have insurance? Or is the $92 all taxes? Because with insurance for me It's $95 after.

That's high!

Yikes! If you don't mind me asking, what state are you in that the tax rate is that high?

Yea! I agree.
Besides my 5 lines on a 1500 everything data plan, I also have one line on the 450 everything data plan, which is as follows:
$69.99(plan)+$10(smartphone charge)+Sprint surcharges+taxes= The bill never gets to $90! Fluctuates from $85-$87
