From Wired.com:

With manufacturers like HTC, traditionally a big WinMo handset maker, defecting to Android (HTC makes the Nexus phone for Google), Microsoft had better watch out. As the mobile market grows and slowly pushes out the desktop and laptop computer, Windows? stranglehold on the computer industry will continue to slip.

The mobile market will never get to the point where it eliminates the desktop and laptop computers. Also, how does HTC moving toward Android phones relate to the downfall of Windows? HTC continues to make both Android and Windows Mobile phones, it not like their ceasing production of one or the other. Windows large share of the PC industry will only continue if they continue to make versatile products that cater to both the casual and hardcore user, not if HTC starts making Android phones.
