Sorry if this has been posted in another thread or answered. The research I did, wasn't able to pull any info up on the site. I'm running froyo and am afraid if I update to gingerbread i will loose all my phone settings contacts etc. I have downloaded the backup pro app. My main concern is I will loose my tethering app which i paid for. Ive used both pda net and easy tether. Easy tether works the best for my droid x. I know Verizon put tethering apps on a block list and I no longer see my tethering app recognized on my app list under the market. So my fear is if I update to gingerbread will I loose everything as well as my tethering app since i cant save it to my SD card

You will not lose contacts or settings. With regards to "tethering" there is now a feature in Gingerbread that will direct you to the Verizon website and ask you to sign up for a tethering plan when you try using those apps. Some have reported that certain "tethering apps" (PDAnet one of them) may work. Bottom line is that chances are Verizon will know. The apps will not show up in the Market, but you can always go to the developers site on your PC and download them, then transfer to your mobile.
