New to Android: How do I set the Mail Client as default?

Hi,
Just got the HTC One and am really enjoying it. I particularly like the Mail program that comes with it since I can also have an Exchange client account added to it. I would like the Mail program to become my default mail client. Right now, when I get a new mail notification and the phone takes me right into the Gmail client. I'd like it to take me into Mail. I've tried clearing the Gmail app defaults but this hasn't solved the issue.
Any suggestions would be appreciated >)

I get notifications from my Gmail client when an email is sent to my gmail. I get exchange notifications when email is sent to my email client. Something must be wrong with your settings I think.

I'm also perplexed. Until you've solved the problem you might want to make it easier to reach the correct email client by adding it to your quicklaunch bar. Which ever Email account you want as your default just go to that account then Settings and check make Default.

Disable your Gmail app . or go to settings accounts and uncheck gmail sync so HTC email client will get email only
