This is to be my first android phone (Evo 3D) i was getting it for the customization aspect of it. Now with the signed boot loader and all the good news. Can i get a run down of what I will and wont be able to do on the phone. I know no custom roms, but will i still be able to overclock install unapproved apps and all the stuff a greedy geek wants?

for a first phone i probably wont be looking to change the rom of it right away anyway. will i be happy with the amount i will be able to do on this phone with the sign bootloader? I hear a lot of people opting out now that it has been said to be true. Should i just get something else?

You might be able to over clock, but we wont know until the phone comes out. It depends on the kernel.

You should be able to remove (cr)aps with a soft root like z4 or gingerbreak or something of the sort.

Ok thats start i guess. i mean i dont think i will need to be overclocked right away. and then when the update implements the power of the dual core it will kind of do it on its own. so, i guess what im trying to say, will i still be happy with this even though it will have its limitation unlike some of the phones i can pick from?

Unfortunately, if the encryption stays and the kernel doesn't allow for overclocking, it's likely that it won't be possible. That's a lot of ifs though, including an "if an Engineering HBoot doesn't leak."

As mentioned before, won't really know til it's out in the wild.

ya i thought so. i'm going to get it anyway i want off my pre already. its done me well.. but the lack of apps is driving me crazy. it wont matter for long, i have another upgrade coming up in october so if i dont like it i will just sell it off and get something new.

my true question is still kind of being avoid lol maybe not on purpose but maybe because the bigger picture is getting in the way haha

Will i still enjoy the phone whether or not it can be rooted fully or not. will there be enough customization without the need to root. or is that also one of those wait to see kind of things. because without small amount of customization, i would probably just get the nexus s. its like verizons old phones that were all the same os and you couldnt even change the menu lay out it was the same crap just different phones. please note that i am new to android so it may seem like duh question...

I think you will still be happy with the customization you can do, even without root. Using something like Launcher pro, or any of the other "home screen" apps out there you can customize a great deal of your phone. Plus you can always find interesting widgets to put on your screens to give it a more personal touch as with any other android device.

There will still be things you can't change, but for the most part it should be enjoyable, root or not.

i'll post some pics of why my phone looks like on nearly stock root. Everything done with the exception of a few details in the notifications bar, and some of the apps, you can do without root.
Enjoy =)
