New to Android!

Hey ladies and gents. I am new to the android platform. Being that the Google Nexus One isnt sold anymore (I'm on ATT) I have my eyes on the Samsung Captivate. How is the phone as far as the comparison to the droid x? Build quality and reception? Are they any GOOD cases for it?
I am a symbian/nokia user. Nokia isnt evolving faster enough with times

I love the Captivate compared to every other phone I've put hands on.
I've had no reception issues, I have had no case on it since day one and no scratches, though I need a case. (only a few are available now)

The captivate is an awesome phone. It's top of the line in comparison with other carriers and phones. The display is beautiful and stands side by side with the Iphone 4 (yes the Ip4 has a nicer screen by a margin). The power this phone packs makes it just as powerful if not more so than any other android phone. To be honest I wasn't a fan of the Droid X when I used it (a friend has it at work) the Captivate is a lot more responsive, has a better looking camera, and obviously has a much more clear display. I didn't like the Droid X UI either. The Captivate uses Samsungs touchwiz 3.0 which I have grown to love. Its different at first but eventually you will grow to love it and any other UI will make you uncomfortable. At work we have a Droid Inc, Droid X, Droid 2, Motorola Cliq, HTC Eris, and my captivate and everyone compliments me on my device.

I bought this case from ATT they sell it at all ATT retailers or online.

what are the main programs every one is using? Any thing that functions like microsoft word or PDF progams? whats the apps everyone is using
