New To Chromebooks Pixel For $700?

Hey guys, I have a buddy at work that has a Chromebook Pixel he is trying to get rid of, and he said he could sell it to me for $700.

It's in like new condition, and I am very tempted.

However, I could pick up a 2011 or 2012 Macbook Air for that price too, as I am searching for something thin and light to carry around campus with me.

I already have a desktop, so it's not like this would be my main computer. I am just tempted to try the chromebook. I have also never had a chromebook before.

I know that I can get a much more capable computer for $700, but I already have my desktop, and my Thinkpad T420.

Basically I need something to take notes with, and just always carry with me.

The main draw for me is the beautiful screen and the build of the machine itself.

The key questions would be:

1. Do you have really good wifi everywhere you'd take the thing? As you probably know, Chromebooks aren't very useful without a connection. Using a Chromebook with a lousy slow connection is almost worse than no connection at all.

2. Would you need something like Microsoft Office, or would you be ok with using Google Drive (or maybe Microsoft Office 365, their online suite that you have to pay to subscribe to)?

3. Would you want to carry around a lot of your movies with you? The Pixel only has 32 or 64 GB of onboard storage, depending on the model.

I suggest going to Best Buy or some place similar and just playing around with one of their Chromebooks for a while to see if you like the experience.

While I agree with most of your points, the only benefit of going and playing with one will be simply the OS. I would recommend seeing if you could play around with the Pixel for a few to see if you like it. I love my Series 3, but a Pixel is just miles better user experience.
