Hello I am new to the Android phones as I just paid the ETF to leave AT&T and the iPhone 3GS to come over to Verizon and get the Motorola Droid. Verizon has perfect 3G around me while AT&T does not.

Anyway, I am trying to get music and pictures from my computer to my new device. I plugged in my phone to my computer but it's not recognizing it even after the initial "installing device software" notification that came up on the screen.

How do you do that? Any desktop software for it?

Pull down the notification area on your droid, press on the usb notification, and select "mount". It'll open your droid up as a mass storage device that you can click and drag everything to. If you want to keep using itunes playlists, etc you can use itunes agent or doubletwist.

Welcome. There are many threads addressing this with people much more knowledgeble than I offering advice. I will try. On your phone, pull down the message screen that should say USB connected and select the message displayed. You should then be asked to Mount your memory card. After doing this, you should be able to simply open the devices memory card up like you would say a USB flash drive. Copy your files to the card and enjoy.

If your using a USB Extension Device it may not recognize your Droid. On my Mac I had to plug the USB directly into a USB port on the Mac itself.

Thanks everyone! I have gotten my pics on there. Working on getting the music on there.
