Welcome to the AC Rezound forum. Since it's your first post I'll provide this info for you, but whatever you do with it is solely on you.

1. If i put a ICS leak on my phone can i update to the official ota when its released if so how

???...No one is sure about it if you flash the unrooted version. Depends on what revision numbers are in the final build VZ releases. You need to go into this under the guise you won't recieve the pushed version.

2. Where is a link to the best most recent ICS leak that i can use

3. How do i do all this

Download links(mirrors) and instructions can be found here. Make certain you flash the correct .zip file.
[Exclusive Download] HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich Build 3.14.605.5, Brings A Handful Of Fixes And New(er) Radios

4. Is the ICS leak mean i get the face unlock, the smooth UI and all that and android beam etc?

Yes, all features you named and just about every other you didn't are included. Only the the blatantly obvious ones weren't included.

I'm thinking of rooting myself. what are the benefits of it and if ics is available will i be able to update it? I'm not new to the forum, but just never rooted. so want to know the pros and cons.

You will not get android beam, that is NFC based and the only thing this phone lacks is NFC

I must have adult onset ADD, that dang Beam ref. flew right under my radar. That's like the 3rd time in a week I overlooked something like that. Since that was brought to bear. Guess we should add Google Wallet to the no go column for the same reason.
