New to Hero

I just switched from the Palm Pre, and I had a couple of questions for whomever has the time to answer.

1. How do you do a soft reset on the Sprint HTC Hero? I know there is some way to do it, but I have yet to figure it out.

2. What is the best sms app to have, since the native app supposedly kills the battery?

3. Is there a voice to text app?

1. Hold the green & red phone buttons down & press the menu button at the same time.
2. Try handcent, seems to be the most popular one. I use it & like it a lot.

[Semantics]

The native messaging app no longer keeps the phone from sleeping since the update. Text to speech extended seems to be the most popular tts app. and its free.
