Just purchased a Nexus 7 16GB tablet. How can I:

Clean up the look of the thing, keep it lean and simple just showing the few things I am interested in? For example, I have recently - using my laptop,my Google account and Google Play - acquired a few ebooks. With that I got some free books I have not asked for and I want to remove those from my Play library. Also, I do not want the cover pages of the books in my library hit me in my face when I sign onto the Nexus. All I want is an icon to give me access to a simple list of titles and, I do not want any lists or pictures of recommended books: if I want to look at what's offered I decide when to do that.

Altogether, I want my Nexus screen to look very lean and simple. The thing has a marvelous resolution which would be further enhanced by avoiding unnecessary clutter.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Delete the widgets. Long press and drag to the top where the white "X Remove" is.

Drag and drop to move icons around the screen.

If you're not familiar with android, I would recommend reading the Nexus 7 guidebook which is free from the play store.

Press and hold inside the Google Library picture. At the top of the scree an X and the word Remove should appear. Drag the library widget to the X and it should go away. Do the same with the Recommends.

I highly recommend reading the Nexus 7 book - pretend it isn't a manual.
