Hi everyone,

I'm new to One+ and so far I really like the phone.

On every one of my Android phones I've had, I'm going back 10 years now, there has always been a separate volume slider for notifications. On this phone it's combined with a ringer and I was wondering if there was a way to separate them.

TIA.

Hi, if you go settings>button and gestures>alert slider you can adjust what the slider does

I may not have been clear or I just don't understand your response. I don't have a way to separate the the volume for notifications and the ringtone. I'm using the volume up and down buttons not the slider.

That's the way stock(ish) Android works. Separated volume for ring and notifications is only available in some brands like Samsung or LG. In brands like Pixel, OnePlus or Motorola this is only possible rooting the phone. Sorry.

Ahh I misunderstood you , no I'm not aware of a way to change that , if it was Samsung they have sound assistant for that .

I've used Samsung Motorola and LG over the past 10 years and they all had separate controls for media, bluetooth, notifications, and ringer volumes. I'm very surprised that one plus, as awesome and innovative as they are, has overlooked this very simple feature. I hate having my notifications on at work but I still need to hear my phone ring. How is this overlooked? Thank you for your reply.

Just to verify once more , do you mean this page ?Screenshot_20210414-215108_Settings.jpg

I don't really like having my phone ring, but like to have notification tones. I just go into the ringtone section and change it to none. That silences ring, but not notification alerts.

But what a pain in the *** to do that 2x day.

The new Asus Zenfone 8 has this ability. I hate that Google removed this essential feature!!!!
I have the OnePLus 8T and what I do is this...I use free open source software on my laptop to import the sound file I want to use. Then I cut the volume of the tone by maybe 50%. Copy it back to my phone. Now I can play my ringtones at a higher volume and the notification tone is not as loud. You can do this the other way also if desired. It works.

Nice work around!

I'm still waiting for the next update to come out that's supposed to improve the battery. My phone keeps overheating and the summer hasn't even begun yet.
Oh wow!
Have you tried safe mode ? Possibly a 3rd party app
