Okay, before you all yell at me, yes I did read the forums and I've done my research, but I am still confused. I was a pro at hacking my BlackBerry, so it won't take me long to get up to speed on rooting with Android.
Now, here we go. I've done my research and from everything I've read, most of the rooting stuff is for prior to unrevoked 3, which simplified the rooting process. That is what I used, unrevoked 3.
Here we go with the questions.
1) What do ROMs do? From what I understand, it's the version of an OS that has been tweaked to the creator's liking. If I am correct, then what ROM do you guys like and why?
2) The instructions for removing the Sprint Bloatware seems to be for the method before unrevoked 3 came out. Should I wait for an easier method to come out or is that not possible? I am trying to save as much battery life as possible, and I am pretty sure all this crap that keeps turning on by itself is killing the battery life, so I'd like a better handle of what goes on in my phone's background (thus superuser permissions).
3) I love to take screenshots, so what screenshot program do you recommend? I have tried ScreenIt, Screenshot, and CaptureIt, and when I send a screenshot to a friend, it shows up grainy. It's nothing like sending a screenshot from a SideKick or a BlackBerry. Even iPhone has better quality when sending screenshots. Is it the program or is it just my phone shrinking it to fit an MMS? If so, how to fix that?
4) Any recommended apps to use now that my phone is rooted?
5) Anything else you want to point out, tips or advice, now that it's rooted? So far, all I did was put in the screenshot program, and that was it. I'd like to go further, but I'd like to see what feedback I get from the Android community before going any further.
Thanks guys, you're a great community and I love reading these threads. It's still all confusing to me, but I'm starting to somewhat get the hang of it.
