New Turbo = new voicemail setup??

I thought it was a bit odd today checking my previously-existing voicemail for the first time on the Turbo and having to set my default language as English with the dialer. Wha...? I never remember doing that before. I nearly didn't pay attention and hit another number. Next step, "Ok Droid Turbo, open Google Translate! nao!!!"

I had the same problem as everybody else. Here is the quick, easy and no cost solution. Sign into your myverizon account. Select your phone and go to where you can change the services. You will see the visual voicemail option selected, just click on "remove". Right below that is the zero cost option for regular voicemail. Select that option and save your changes. You can now set up your regular voicemail with *86.

OK, so I have never had a smartphone before. I just got this thing yesterday. I called my phone number from my phone and set up voicemail just like I normally would. Then I had someone call me and leave me a test voicemail message. If I call *86, I can get the message. However, NOWHERE on my phone screen does it show any indication about having a new voicemail. I signed into my verizon, and it says I have already selected Visual Voicemail, but when I read the setup for it, it still seems like it would charge me for something. All I want is for there to be a little number somewhere, perhaps by my missed calls, that tells me I have a new voicemail and need to call it. Does anyone know how to do this???

It should notify you by ring tone/vibrate that you have a voice mail. You should also see the voice mail icon in your notification bar on the left side as well. It looks kind of like this o_o

I just did this and the annoying VVM offer went away and my phone works just like my older Bionic for voicemail.
Using my home PC, I logged into Verizon Wireless.
On the leftmost part of the screen you will see "Manage My Account" with a list of options.
From this list click on "Block Services"
A new window will appear with more options. Click on "Purchases"
Check the last box in the list entitled, "Block Visual Voice Mail" (NOTE: You do not need to click on the "Block Premium Visual Voice Mail" box. It will not make a difference.)
Click "Continue"
Next a new screen will appear with a list of services/costs for your account. Click on the "Accept Changes" button and you are done!

I just tried calling myself from another phone and that annoying message to upgrade to VVM was GONE! Also, the old 0_0 icon is indeed back, letting me know I have a voicemail waiting. Like it's always been, a call to *86 lets me listen to my voice messages.
