I don't know about anyone else but this update seems to have brought a bit more than what was let known. Not as far as widgets or any new features, no nothing like that. (except deleting CarrierIQ...has this been officially confirmed? And would this deletion bring about any performance enhancement (ie. less resource hogging/updating etc))

What it seems to have brought is a smoother operating experience. I had noticed for a while now that my Evo 3D seemed to move rather sluggishly, while not astronomically slower but noticeably, and since I monitor closely what apps, services, updates whathaveyou occur on it, I'm pretty sure it wasn't any of that, at least to the the best of my knowledge. But since this update, screens move faster & smoother and without the hesitation that had seemed to plague it before, with or without other apps running. Also apps open faster, if even a little bit but it's noticeable, and even graphically annotated playback seems to move along a bit zippier. And as a bonus, it seems websites attempt to load a little faster, again not super crazy lightning quick (as we might like) but noticeably.

Keep in mind my Evo 3D is not rooted, completely stock with a user who is almost hyper sensitive to any sudden change in speed or functionality.

Is anyone else seeing what I'm experiencing?

I haven't received the new market yet.

I have noticed the phone running a little faster. I ran Quadrant and I am seeing a bump from my normal mid 1900's to 2075 on first pass. I'm stock with several widgets and email accounts syncing.

It's definitely an improvement. Let's see how the the battery life goes. Once I have full charge, I'll take it off and run normally. I'll post results later. My normal battery life is 8-10 hours...depending on usage.


***Update 0839 CST*** Phone said I had app updates, and when I went to install them, the new market appeared. Looks nice!

Just updated and I can't connect to any of my favorite forums with taptalk,, had to use my tablet for this post, also my tip calculator widget is gone. I used that all the time. On the plus side phone appears to be faster and smoother. As far as the new market goes I installed that a while ago myself. Edit: uninstalled and reinstalled taptalk and it is working on my 3D again.

Hmm... I thought I had the update last night because when I manually checked for an update, one appeared. I then rechecked and it said I was fine. I restarted and this morning after reading the software number listed above... I checked again, now I am going through the big update. Can't wait to see if it makes any noticeable difference. My battery life has been HORRIBLE the past few days and hopefully now I can get more than half a day of use.

I have been playing around with my phone for an hour now and I must say it really is noticeably faster and smoother after the update. Apps Open much faster and no lag. Must be getting the phone ready for ics.

I received the update this morning. No new market yet. This is insignificant for most but HTC finally fixed the photo frame widget!

Market just updated for me. I did force stop and clear data for the Market and Google Services Framework, and did a *#*#CHECKIN#*#* a couple minutes before it updated. I'm not sure if that forced the market to update, or if it was a coincidence.

Don't get why they got rid of the tip calculator widget. Edit : ok, not that anyone cares but i went to htc hub and it showed that tip widget was still installed. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and it is now back. I can stop whining now lol.

According to Good&Evo Carrier IQ is gone.

Latest OTA update to 2.17.651.5 on HTC EVO 3D finally removes Carrier IQ

I updated mine yesterday and when I went to charge it over night and took the charger off this morning, my battery life didnt last no more 4-5 hours, whats up with that

Double negative is very negative... Mine seems to be lasting a tad bit longer, its only been a few hours though.

yeah, i don't see any difference in speed, or battery life yet either. hopeful, but a bit skeptical. placebo effect

Yeah, i hope after i charge it up it will be ok and run faster and smoother like everyone is saying, i wish there was a way to keep my Go Launcher as my home page, i already went thru the settings and manage apps that way but for some reason it didnt keep Go launcher as my home page goes back to HTC sense once i hit the home key
