It seemed like you had some basic questions about backing up and a fear that it would cause the tablet to break.

Maybe I'm just reckless? :-\
I certainly disabled a whole bunch of bloatware and allowed many things in multiwindow, fixed the SD card R/W, etc...

not a problem . Too much info is always better then not enough. I've rooted my S4 because if I needed it replaced, I'd just use my insurance and pay the deductible. But I never got the sq trade warranty on the tablet, so I'd have to pay the whole replacement cost. But like I said, I'm getting closer every day. The lack of being able to add any app to multi window also frustrates me

Quick superficial read seems to say you have to be "rooted" to use 'Online Nandroid'.....How does that help us that want "full" system backup prior to rooting....

I don't think you can. In order to do a backup of this level you need root super user access/permissions to be able to have control of all apps, systems, data and R/W access

It doesn't.
AFAICT, it is just a way to mirror your device into the cloud.

And that is another one of the advantages of rooting.
Being able to recover the entire device to where you had it, rather than factory reset.

The update has been sitting on my tablet for a while now.
I'm waiting to hear what it does and what (if any) bugs it has before I choose to install.

I have a Note 10.1 2014 edition model 607T LTE from T-Mobile USA. All the rooting instructions I have found refer to the models you mentioned. I found the 607T factory ROM to use after rooting since, as far as I understand, it is the step after rooting. However, the question I seem not to find an answer is if the files used for rooting mentioned in the instructions (600, 601, or 605) will work on my model. Any input on this?

I am new to rooting Android. I have rooted iOS devices and a PlayBook before, and not concerned about messing thins up.

Just be SURE to flash the correct file for your device. (600, 601, 605)

Geohot's one click Towelroot is said to work on all LTE devices using the Snapdragon processor without tripping Knox.
This article specifically mentions the P607T;

And this thread over on XDA seems to confirm that Towelroot will not trip Knox on the T-mob Note 607T.

What country are you in? The USA got an update several weeks ago and not seem to change much of anything other a few users reported chromecast was fixed.

I finally found a difference that has nothing to do with chromecast. The update allows you to change the brightness when auto brightness is turned on.
