I have not heard of this but I searched Google and came up with no results. I found discounts for switching to a Share Everything plan that equaled $40 but I'm sure when those took effect. She didn't switch to Share Everything though so that wouldn't be relevant to her.

It ended monday, the promo ran from friday till close of business monday, as long as you were upgrading to a 4g phone...

Ok so you did it over the phone. First off, they have the ability to give those credits over the phone. So you need to be specific, because if someone goes to a Corporate store they don't have the ability to give credits. Second, they were running that credit on Labor day weekend, so that is likely what you got, and why you didn't get any flack.

I called Verizon Customer Support and she wasn't eligible for the discount. You need to sign a two year contract, upgrade to a 4G phone, and switch to the Share plan. Not worth it.
