new user - apps? what do you guys all use?

So I managed to buy a good condition Nexus 6 for 100 bucks. Really good deal if you ask me. This is my first phone in a very, very long time. I've been using a Samsung SII Epic 4G Touch for about 5 years. Pretty damn amazing to me haha that I've gone this long without getting a new phone. After setting everything up, it took me a while to figure out how to update to Nougat. After some searching around, I finally managed to update to Nougat from enrolling into the beta and then leaving it.

So, my question is what apps should I get or do you guys use? What I'm looking for are types of apps that everyone or a lot of people use. Apps that may make the phone a lot better, more convenient, perhaps more productive, or just does some other cool or useful things.

Greetings! Welcome to the forums! Not sure what skin those devices have, but my first app is Nova launcher usually. I like the minimalist home screen.. SwiftKey and whatsap next. I hate ads, so adguard is always on...

Be specific with what you want to do & people will make suggestions

Yeah! Agree with -Tim1954- The Nova launcher and the other-1s
suggested are useful..Also as mxmarcus said be more specific
in how you want to Customize the phone. My suggestion
is to Download "CCleaner-Mobile" it helps to clear the
cache and Temp files..In addition a Free mobile
antivirus like: AVG-MBAM or Kaspersky-Bye

I'm not really looking for specific aps. Anything that is fairly popular and provides a better experience on their phone. Can be productivity, phone customization, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I think I heard of Swiftkey by a few people before and I know a lot of people use Nova Launcher. I'll definitely be checking those out!

I don't have a lot of cool apps, maybe I need some, too!

I tend to use Pandora, Waze, HBOGo, Netflix, ESPN, and Fox. I also have Sceene for photo manipulation (more fun than truly useful), and Strava for cycling.

I tend to use the browser (Chrome) to consume a lot of content/services rather than installing an app for everything. For example, Twitter and CNN. Their apps might offer some functional advantages over the browser experience, but if I installed an app for every possible thing, I'd have 50 more than I do already.
