Hi guys,

IPhone to android switch made tonight .. Now a few questions!

How do I remove home screens - I want 1 not 5?

How do I change the default gallery app? I have Downloaded a new one but now I'm stuck?

How do I rearrange apps in the apps menu so my most used are on the first page?

How do I change the My profile section of the contacts to my personal name card?

You need to download a launcher to do this, try apex or nova

Go to settings>apps. Swipe until you see "all" on top of right panel, scroll to gallery app, scroll down on the app info, clear defaults. Exit settings. Then click on the app you want to use and open a picture.

If you mean the app drawer, you can do this with apex launcher, probably nova too

Look under M for me ... you can edit it there.

Okay I downloaded apex.

I have removed home screens now have 1!

Can't work out how to organise my app drawer though?

Also can't work out which is the default gallery app for me to remove the default settings for to I can use quicpic

Coming from an iPhone, the difference between home screens and the app drawer can be a bit confusing, since the iPhone lumps these two together.

In general, on an android phone, you use the home screens to organize the programs you actually use often (along with widgets, etc). The app drawer is the unorganized place you have access to ALL your apps, including those that you don't often use. They are generally sorted alphabetically and you have no control over the organization - but then, you wouldn't ordinarily care about this because it is the home screens you use for organization. In your case, if you have your home screen set up the way you like, I'd suggest having 2 home screens (instead of 1). Have the second one to the right, and just swipe right to see the list of commonly used apps (that aren't already on your primary home screen).

Having said that, if you are committed to using the app drawer in the way you've described, you can do this with customization options in launchers like apex and nova. I don't use apex, but in nova there's an option to make tabs and folders within the app drawer (it is a prime feature though; ie, paid version only).

I've just bought the paid apex version ..

Just can't work out how to organise apps in the drawer!

Also how to I get iPhone emoji to communicate with my wife?

Only method I could find was to download and use chomp SMS

The default picture viewer/gallery app is simply called Gallery.

For emoji, go to Settings -> Language & input, then under Keyboard & Input Methods check the box for iWnn IME. That will enable the emoji option for your texting needs.

i never used up all 5 screen either, so with the stock version of nexus 4, max number of homescreen can be only 5 correct? and there is no way you can delete any?

Just use an alternative launcher like suggested above. They are free, unless you chose to pay, and easy to use. I use apex. You don't need to root.

Wow thanks for posting that. I thought I would have to install chomp to get emoji. That is much simpler.

3d party launchers with a ton of customization options. I use the paid version of Apex.... so much better than the stock Jellybean launcher. Search for Apex and Nova Launcher in the Play Store.

If you want the same iPhone style emoji you have to download go sms, then download the emoji extension. You can even download the iPhone theme so you feel nice and safe at home

Please explain. Never had an iphone (nor will I) but I do occasionally send sms to iphone users so...
