New Verizon G4 Update

Verizon pulled the 12a update from 10/9 because of the reported wifi sync issues. The rest of the update was solid, especially improving on the touchscreen issues that many were having. I have little hope, but maybe verizon will grace us with a new update in the near future that fixes the wifi sync. But I'm not holding my breath.....

What's their solution for those of us that have 12a? Or are we just screwed until they decide to fix it?

Pretty sure it's a waiting game until the next update, unless you want to run DNSet on your phone.

Hmmm... and all this time I was blaming it on the Glass screen protector the sales clerk talked me into buying.

You don't want it. It cripples notifications for multiple things over WiFi

Yeah I finally took mine off and found it improved. Personally, I think those glass protector's are a gimmick.

Tried connecting my G4 to a TV with my slimport to HDMI adapter and it no longer works. Has anyone else tried this since the update?

I just called into VZW again to check on and update, and get more credit. I don't really care about the money, but often with companies like evil red, consistent credits are the only way to get their attention.

Anyway, I asked the rep for an update on new software, and she said she saw where people requested that the fix be expedited, but there wasn't an ETA. This rep was actually good, and knew about the problem instantly - so that's a bonus.

So - No ETA, but I told them I expected half off this month (just like last month, and every coming month until they fix this) - since my phone is only 50% useful at the moment.

I'd encourage everyone to call, complain, and request credit. If enough of us do, that may get the ball rolling faster on a fix.

I know your post was a couple weeks ago, but I just now found it. Thank you so much! I got the unfortunate 12A update, and my notifications are completely jacked up. I did this and immediately an email came through (of course, it had really arrived at 8:20pm, but since I did the DNSet, it actually notified me at 9:46pm). Just wanted to say thank you!

Well after nearly a month with this update (which I did a FDR after installation), I can say that the notification bug is vexing. The screen rotation seems to be hesitant or gets stuck completely at times now, too. Also, initially the keyboard lag seemed to diminish, but for whatever reason, it's back. I've always used Swiftkey.

I sincerely hope the Marshmallow update makes things right. Or is a stop-gap update more likely first, to remedy issues with 12A?

I think we got 5 on the G3 before it was fixed, but don't quote me on that, it's been too long.

This bug is getting REALLY old though. I'd like to find a way to downgrade back to 11.

Too bad you can not downgrade. The only possibility would be with an unlocked boot loader, but even then it may not work. I for one stayed away from the 12A update as I read about all the problems with it. But on the upside, we are on the list for 6.0. When it hits is anyone's guess. I would think early next year.
