New version of sense

I think they might just port it to the evo! Seems more and more people are keeping their phones long then they have in the past....

I would sure welcome it

OMG! I wanted to reach through the video and strangle that kid! Furiously flipping between screens not showing anything useful.

Holy crap .... It's you! Damn man long time! You got an EVO yet?

Come on all you pre guys .... do you recognize his name? :p. If It's not ringing a bell Google him then buy him an EVO so he can do work for our devices!

Ok sorry, back on topic

Of course I have an Evo :p. I have yet to root it yet. (shame on me). but it works great out of the box so no need to.

I still do my hacking on the Pre tho.

Yowser, guess it really is time to give up the webOS ghost with you guys switching. When will Rod Whitby and Jason Robitaille be coming over? (Or are they here already?)

They will probably never switch. I dont think I really switched. I had big beef with the Pre hardware; ie: the cell radio dropping calls at whim. The OS is nice and getting better. Now with HP $$$ they might actually get good hardware. I've had too many Palm devices to just give up on it. :)

HP will get rid of phones entirely soon. They didn't want webOS for phones. They wanted it for printers and tablets.

webOS would RULE on a tablet. But they are a little behind the game.

But what part of it would rule besides good multi-tasking? It has a weak app market, and no support from anyone. They already cancelled Docs to go, so it wouldn't be great for biz and productivity.

UP, it takes 10 minutes with unrevoked!

You of all people need to root your EVO. You will never come back once you go over to the dark side...just like in your past life...:)

webOS would be good for a tablet for lusers cuz it's not as cluttered. let the flames begin.

If you dont care about 2,000 fart apps or badly programmed apps then it will be good. I prefer the browser in webOS anyday, Android's browsers (all of them) are just not as smooth or quick. but that's just my opinion... i sense more flames coming.

I'm sure HP will break some legs and bribe some developers to make more apps happen.

I am tempted. :p I did root my Hero and did some kernel hacking but the Android ROM devs have things under control so I dont need to do much of my own tweaks. The trouble is finding the good ROMs out of the hundred or so.

I think your getting iOS and Android mixed up, I rarely come across fart apps. I also remember reading an article somewhere, that out of all the app stores the market was rated at the top with the least bloatware and garbage apps. As for badly programmed? Well I will say for the year I had my Pre it was nothing but a piece of garbage and most of those apps had constant updates to fix numerous bugs and issues. Let's talk about bad programming... As for browsers, no contest. Tests have been done between webOS, iOS and Android and Android and iOS beat down webOS.

Now for the money aspect... Well money is important "yes". However, the devs want constant profit and future within the platform, which currently webOS is dying and has been since about 6 months ago. Hints the bad sales... Almost 85% of the original webOS team has been booted or have left. Honestly I applaud the great effort for backing them up. I do! Still let's be honest and serious for a second. Docs to Go was just one dev that's huge and didn't care about just the money, they wanted future and that's something webOS can not give. I would be more then happy to do some tests myself and post those videos of the browsers between webOS and Android. Even my browser with flash performed better then the webOS did. It being smoother and more fluid, and pinch to zoom having no chopiness or lag. I never went one day without wanting to throw the Pre because of all the issues it had. The browser in my opinion sucked.. Reason Adobe has not released Flash for it. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel it all together.

They didn't cancel Docs to go were the ones who canceled. It has a good market app just need to get some of the apis open and new hardware to encourage development. But you did get one thing wrong "no support from anyone". They still have webos internals. Which ported optware to the pre which is used for http server with php and cgi support. Android lacks a proper web server. The Pre has an ssh server which can tunnel and works fully to control every aspect of the phone. Android lacks a proper ssh daemon not that is seems useful anyway. What kind of linux box doesn't have ssh? The evo dosent even have a proper terminal app... The Pre is overclocked to 1.2ghz. The pre has TONS of support from developers and the community itself. I posted a thread here and have yet to get a full answer. Post a thread at precentral and see how long it takes for a developer or member to help out. You can't compare communities. From a person coming from webos as soon as the update comes out ill probably jump back because this phone is shiny but truly fails at what its supposed to be a linux phone. Also cards are awesome being able to push one button and see everything running and not having to go though menus and essentially reopen the app to access it again. Took those for granted but see how much more efficient it is. Also no leaving things running on accident because you know if an app is open.

And here is the man responsible for 1.2ghz overclock on the Pre sweet sig btw. Didn't even realize you were here. Jumped from the Pre but find android lacking some of the things webosinternals spoiled Palm users with. As for the browser the Evo's plays flash then again the Pre makes it a snap to have as many pages as you want open and cycle them. Also when you delete history its gone. When you delete history (cache and everything else in the browser options) in the Evo it lets you go back to the previous page... You need to open a new page and close the old one to compensate for this flaw. Just sayin' they don't even have history/cache down just yet.

Here's an idea guys. It may be a little far fetched but bare with me......

Please stay on topic. This is not a palm section of the forum. Of you would like to talk about palm and webos then there is a section dedicated for other devices and operating systems so please use it.
