My Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V is now having issues with the internet. It will not let me surf the web. Whenever I try and go to a website I am redirected to the Virgin Mobiles site. I KNOW this happens when your month is over and you need to top up. My month was over on the 1st and I topped up yesterday and still have this issue. Every month I top up with a Virgin mobile top up card and restart my month on the VM site and have never had this issue.

Yesterday I spoke with someone at Virgin Mobile and they told me to wait a few hours, turn the phone off, pull the battery and try again. That did not work. I called again today and they told me that is now a known issue and many people are experiencing this. They said they are working on resolving this issue and should be fixed in about 24 hours. Who knows how true that is but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

That's the standard response from VM, There isn't much you can do but wait, if you call back they will "escalate" your issue to corporate techs. Which I highly doubt because they already know there are reoccurring issues.

I would have done that a long time ago but there is no activate app for AOSPs CM7 Gingerbread.

I had a similar issue, except I had no internet whatsoever. While aosp doesn't have an activate app, bumblebee does because it's 2.2 whereas aosp is 2.3.

back up your current rom
then flash the proper recovery image for bumbleebee and install the rom
click the activate button until your internet is working properly again.
you may have to click activate multiple times, i had to do it 4 times.

if the activate app doesn't show up you can google "activate.apk" and download the apk, move it to the sd card and install it using a file explorer app

hope this helps

What happens if you install activate.apk on aosp 2.3?

It just wont install. And I remember not being able to get a 2.3 activate app to work on aosp, most likely because the phone is originally programmed with 2.2 so VM wont recognize it as 2.3.

If you don't want to revert back to an older rom, pull your battery for 10 minutes, it will reset your radio, it worked for me when I was using aosp

I called in on this yesterday and I was givin the 24 hour bull and it was true the net is working now

This happens to me once a month as well. The day that my new billing cycle starts. If you call VM, they just tell you to factory reset your phone. They are truly worthless people. You can avoid this by not paying for your next month until the day of the new billing cycle. Then, instead of hitting the "pay now" button, hit the "reset my plan month" button. You pay and you'll have 3G from that moment on. Annoying, but it works.

I used a Top Up card to fund my account and had no problems with service interruption this past new cycle. I have had issues in the past using my CC to Top Up, it would always lose 3G the last few hours and a few hours into the new cycle.

Just have them reset your plan month... if you call during the day/normal work week you'll get someone competent(usually) that will do it. The last two times it's happened before this weekend that's how I've dealt with it.
