New VOIP option for GV - single app solution: GrooVe IP

My problem with the app is as soon as someone calls me,the app wakes up for a split of a second showing persons phone number and it hides. If I try to bring it in focus, there is no phone number showing.
It shows just like an incoming call. When I hang up call and check the phone log, correct phone number is shown. I hope that issue could be resolved. BTW I'm using Samsung Vibrant, quality is really good, had some echo, but have fixed it adjusting speaker/mic gain levels...

UPDATE
Have tested a little bit more and that issue appears only when the screen is turned off. With screen on all is fine and caller ID shows fine.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the bug. Do you have a screen lock or anything? Just wondering if it's something to do with that. We'll dig into it and fix it.

Wow. I can understand if you don't like the app or it isn't working well for you. But we did do a lot of testing before releasing the app. Unfortunately there are A LOT of different android phones and roms. To get things perfect on each and every one is very very complex. We're working very hard to make sure the app does work well on every phone. We did go out and buy an Optimus when things weren't working well on it. Unfortunately we weren't able to reproduce the problems so we had to recruit people to help us test. Sorry if you feel we're too slow or not doing a good job.

I never understood why people think it's ok to steal apps. Would the same person feel it's ok to walk into a mall and start stealing clothes? Just because it's easy doesn't make it right. Generally to make any app it takes a great deal of time and effort as well as a certain amount of knowledge. When you go to work don't you expect to be paid for it? Why should it be any different for us? We work on GrooVe IP after our regular full time jobs and on weekends. We're not trying to be greedy by charging for the app. We spend an insane amount of hours working on the app and just want some sort of compensation for our time and effort.

If you'd like to pirate the app, go ahead. If your morals don't stop you, I can't really stop you. I'd rather spend my time and effort improving the app and putting out frequent updates than trying to prevent people from stealing it.

Where in my post did I say that I pirated the app?
I purchased it.I was just pointing out that it was available and usually the updates are posted within a couple of hours.

Also you wrote an app to screw Virgin Mobile out of money so people could buy the cheapest plan and make unlimited phone calls and you complain about people stealing your app?

Hello, thanks for the constant improvements on this app. The last update pretty much fixed all issues on my phone except one. I'm using an lg optimus v.

While using groove ip there seems to be a 2-4 second lag.
This happens both over wifi and 3G.
Is there an option I should Check that can help prevent this? I'm running the latest version of this app, thanks

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the bug. Do you have a screen lock or anything? Just wondering if it's something to do with that. We'll dig into it and fix it.

Lock is disabled by No Lock app, it doesn't matter if it's enabled or disabled, Groove IP behaves the same. It pops up for a split of a second showing Caller ID and it hides. If I go to a pull down bar and put the focus to Groove IP it shows Incoming Call without any details. So, while the screen is ON it works fine, but as soon as it goes OFF and call comes in, it starts to act as described above. Hope you can find the problem and fix it. Fingers crossed!

Can you try restarting the app and see if that changes anything?

Not familiar with the No Lock app. Will download that and see if maybe something it's doing is making GrooVe unhappy.

He's not complaining, he's just staying the facts..
I'm the only person here who admitted of stealing this app (witch I will pay for this weekend)..

So don't try to be all defensive on what the team may say..
For one you bought the app but that's still no reason to dish hate toward the team as all they want to do is help..

............

Tryed 1.1.0..
No issues as of yet with the mic gain at -8/ speaker at 0 with incoming/outgoing processing checked..
This is over WiFi..
3g has a 2 sec lag butt I was exspecting that with the processing checked on audio..

No chop or any other issues (audio wise) as of yet on my V..

Incoming calls show up fine even when under clocked with screen off...

(as I stated before I'm willing to do beta tests for the team if need be)

LOL, this is not a Virgin Mobile only app, nor was it created for the Optimus V, so how could you possibly conclude it was written to screw VM out of money? It is an app that allows you to use VOIP with GoogleVoice, similar to Skype, which was just aquired for 8.5 billion my Microsoft. These apps don't screw companies out of money, they create new revenue streams that astute companies can take advantage of.

I'm having the same issue. I just use the normal lockscreen. The call screen shows up for a second, but then disappears before I can answer the phone. I can unlock the phone, pull down the notification bar, select Groove, and then answer the call though. Using the Optimus V.

Have restarted app a few times, still acting the same way. Have flashed two differen roms and nothing changes. It isn't rom related.

Same here, how about when the screen is on and the call comes in??

Actually you do have a option to have it removed. Of all the pirate apk sites if the dev requests it taken down they will remove the app from the lists.

Just tested it. The call screen stays on when the screen is on. Looks like it's just a problem when the lockscreen is activated/screen is off.

Exactly! That's the issue I'm having...hope dev can fix it in the next update.

Alright so I"ve been reading this and I'm thinking it's gonna be the first app that I buy. Here comes the question.... I've never set up google voice except for voicemail in the past. Is there a guide on how to set up this app. I'll find out how to do the google voice part. I don't want to be too lazy :D but just settings wise.

I have been using the app for past week or so on optimus v bumblebee. At first there was static noise Issues after finding the sweet spot on mic setting and doing the troubleshooting thing it works great. There's still little static with 3g, wifi works with some lag. 8/10

Might not be the next update, thinking of putting up an update tonight to fix the incoming call ringing forever issue. We'll get it fixed asap though.

Ok so fixing the incoming calls ringing forever makes it so if you call a number that is busy your call will just disconnect. Do you guys want me to post the update now? Or wait a day or two till we can add a busy tone for dialing a number that is busy?

Since they both apply to the same situation, I would recommend waiting to have one complete update.

I have a request. Since I only plan to use this app for when I am out of the country or cannot roam, which happens very rarely, I'd love the ability to shut it off. When I exit from the app it seems to randomly restart itself.

Is that possible?

FYI sound quality has been fine in my limited testing. Stock Optimus V.
