So, my step-dad and I ran a Quadrant benchmark simultaneously. His Droid X came back at 1.33 GHz, mine (Fascinate) was at a mere 899 MHz. If we have the same size processor, what gives?? :-\

I think you mean the quadrant scores were 1330 and 899. Right?
If so, thats because of two things directly:
His runs Android 2.2, yours runs Android 2.1
Samsung has a file system that is comparatively slow. It's fast enough to run Android for most things with no slowdown, but it benchmarks very badly.
Does your Fascinate feel fast and fun to use? That's the real test.
